Yesterday it was reported that Nieminen was slightly ill. Haase must've been pretty awful to lose to him if this was indeed true.

Good victory for Nieminen!

Haase had great chance to turn this around in second set being break ahead two times and in tiebreak Jarkko playing too passive but he completely blew it all these times. Anyways good too see Jarkko being aggressive again and not playing too bad either, just too bad his serve quite isn't there where it was same time last year.

Jarkko led the first set 4-1*, Haase came back and took it to the tiebreak where he led 3-1*, then Jarkko took 5 points in a row and won 7-5. Second set was a breakfest, but at 3-2* on Jarkko's serve he finally held serve and it went on serve to the tiebreak, where Haase made really poor errors at the end.

Jarkko saved a lot of close games, when he was down 15-30 or 0-30 especially at the end of sets. Smart, tactical play all around. Haase couldn't punish the poor second serve often enough.

Jarkko looked pale as a ghost but he was playing quite well. Haase was hitting the ball with gusto, a bit brain dead a times though...:D

Wonder if the crowd helped Sharkko. He's been to Bangkok quite a lot...

this news was quite misleading as it's been posted just yesterday but by reading its blog it appears that the sickness took him last week... Today Nieminen was just fine on court.

It was on the Dutch sports sites yesterday. Perhaps they wanted to install some hope in the Dutchman and/or his fans, who knows... strange business if the illness was already a week ago.

Haase should probably have won both sets, he had a big advantage in rallies.

Nemo, even fit, is not the player he was at the end of last year. The serve in particular improved a lot then, it's back to its usual limpness.
