Experience really payed off in the end for Shark. The Thai fans really love Jarkko, he seemingly gets a warm reception whenever he plays this event. Jarkko was struggling physically and really battled in the third set, was up a break, then had to save 15-30 at *4-5. Thiem made too many costly errors but has a great forehand and moves well. Unfortunately for him he couldn't take the match when he had it on his racquet but this is a good experience for the youngster.

Overall, very good and important win for Jarkko, who is defending many points here this week.

Nieminen is just a shadow of a player he once was.
Not saying Shark's a good quality player but had some good moments in the past like AO 2008 QF.

too bad for Thiem, two points away, then kinda folded... file it under "experience gained" I guess... very nice forehand from what I saw...

This was best chance for us to see victory in ATP tournament for player born in 1993... sadly, the year will probably pass without any

Jarkko :worship:.

Shame that he is ill, he has a favorable draw IMO.
