Didn't see the first set but in the 2nd, Rafa let go and made some errors to let Kyrg back in the match. He seized his momentum and served fantastic in the 3rd. Rafa was a bit tight, though he was efficient on serve, save for one game which went to deuce. Then a nervy TB, Kyrgios was doing what he does best, slicing, drop shots... hit some amazing volleys. Rafa made a very bad FH miss at 5:3 to let Kyrg back. Then after a DF by Kyrgios at 5:5 Rafa replied in kind but managed to close out the set. The 4th seemed to be a routine affair with Rafa in control and Kyrgios running out of steam until Rafa decided to choke while serving for the match. Then went on to waste 2 more BP's. Somehow pulled through in the TB.

Rafa has to up his game to beat Thiem, no doubt. This just won't cut it.

PS A message for SwissTennisTroll and other tards who badly wanted to see a Rafa loss:

Lol, never been so glad that Nadal is moving on to face Thiem. Rafa still faces stiff opposition on his road to the final, but he and all his fans will be glad that all the unreal hype over his match against Kyrgios is finally over!

Nick had to work very hard at the end to win a point off the ground, as Rafa's D got super big, near climax

Nadal being Nadal. Many players would've just lost that set 7-5 after the brainfart of not serving it out. Instead he nearly breaks back and dosen't give Krygios a sniff at 6-5.

Two tiebreaks came down to Krygios gambles, wide second serve and then that stupid dropshot. Third set was the decisive one. Tension would've been off the scale in that 4th set if Krygios had been 2-1 up.

Nadal getting the endurance nicely up for the Theim challenge.

Terrible shot selections from Kyrgios at times, those failed drop shots, those deep and hard shots to the baseline from far behind his baseline when all he had to do is follow Nadal´s game a little bit longer. At least he showed some guts and made it a little competitive in the final set but he gifted tons of UE

Absolutely hilarious how many times Nicholas would hit a massive serve only to have big Xisca's trophy husband moonball it back deep with ease from 5 metres baseline to get into a neutral rally.

Kyrgios tried much more than anyone expected and made this competitive.
Congrats to Dull, the defence won him this game. He is still a machine running like a madman. One of the greatest fighters ever.
Still, it will be interesting to see how much this match took out of him. He is a no springchicken anymore.
