LMAO @ the rigged draw for the Australians :spit: Make it less obvious next time
This is funny because these draws are almost too good to be true. Even the 2nd round draws are good except for Saville and Matosevic (who both have qualifiers first round).

I've literally never seen draws so good for the Australians.

These are some ridiculously good draws. Clay courters, players out of form, players who just aren't good... They couldn't have asked for much better. It could be a good tournament for the country if these guys take their chances (as well as the females, who also have great draws).

We could have an all-Australian third round match in the 16th with Tomic, Groth and Kokkinakis. I'd pick Tomic to come through that section and maybe even go further. But of course we should focus on the first round matches and try not to look ahead ;)

DAY 1:

All but Hewitt play on Day 1. Kyrgios on MCA, Tomic and Groth on Hisense, Matosevic and Kokkinakis on SC3, Duckworth on Court 6, Millman Court 8, Thompson Court 13, Savile Court 20.

MCA must be the #2 court now after RLA? It's listed like that on the schedule. I know it's capacity went from 5000 to 7500, but I thought Hisense held more than that, or no?

No fucking way  I'm so used to Tennis Australia being money hungry, this is very generous  I would sit my ass in the front row all day fucking long then
All depends on you is scheduled to play, me thinks.

Great draws - just hope our guys can deliver, it will be a great spectatcle if they can, to watch more Aussies in the second and third rounds - awesome, I hope.

Duckworth v Kavcic - Lol

I would be losing my shit if I had RLA tickets for tonight. Hewitt, Zhang, Tomljanovic & Rogers? That womens match shouldn't be NEAR RLA, especially after Kokkinakis and Gulbis played on Show Court 3 yesterday :hysteric: They could have put Azarenka - Stephens on instead, or Venus, or Serena, or Kvitova, or Wozniacki, or Radwanska, or Dellacqua even  Very strange.

Awesome effort so far from everybody, but Saville and Thompson should have done better. Gavrilova could have won as well. Rodionova and Sanders need to stop getting WCs now.

Agree you with on the scheduling, seriously weird. Kokk v Gulbis was always going to be a lot more interesting than Groth v Krajinovic for example, and unless Hewitt is suddenly afflicted with paraplegia, tonights match should be a short and boring one.

Think you are being a bit hard on Thompson and Saville though.

Smyczek, though a perpetual lurker at the top end of the to 100/bottom end of 1-150, is a pretty dangerous player, and has notched up wins against most of the Australians (including Saville) over the last few years.

And Thompson (exhibitions mean nothing!) was never likely to pull off a win against a fairly consistent top 50 player. Mind you, that does raise the whole question of the usefulness/appropriateness of the wc playoff as a way of allocating a wc...

Agree exhibitions mean nothing, never watch them.

WC play-off winner earns the card, irrespective of rank, past performance, who they know, mate in high places etc. - they deserve to have their day at the AO in the Main Draw. Until their is a better method... should be best of three sets only, as per the Asian WC play-off.
