I hope that all the Australian Muppits who returned the Liberals to government at the Federal election may have a change of heart following this event.

Conservatives taking a fall is a good thing! More conservatives should! But this guy appears to be particularly nuts.

btw, do I grasp from the article that in Australia the conservatives are actually the liberals?

well in France the word liberal actually refers to anglo-saxon (read: U.S: & American) economic policies. The guy who resigned in Australia was a conservative and he deserved to lose his post.

Hey, you edited your post.. too bad, I wanted to comment on it.

Anyway, in Holland, the liberals are our right-wing party and the conservatives too. It seems that only in the USA a liberal is a degrading term used to refer to left-leaning people.

In Australia the party should be a called the Tories, they are not a liberal party per se. Both Liberals and Tories have similiar views on economic policy, but not social policy.

I am not making excuses for him, but he was pissed, and is only a male after all. lol, I found it slightly amusing when I first heard it (6.30am, on Nova 96.9 with Merrick and Rosso - they could make almost anything humourous). Good to hear him come back with an apology though, even if it isn't accepted. Also nice to see he knows he was an ass, and that he would feel the same way (as Bob/the public) if similar comments were made about his wife.

Am I the only person to not loathe him? I understand that someone in his position should know better, and not make these comments, but I'm still shocked that he's not the leader now. Who will be? lol... He always seemed to behave at functions at my work, and would be quite charming towards the other guests. One of my coworkers will be absolutely heartbroken by the news. LOL she adored him. Sick of politics in this country. All the guys I get to like make asses of themselves and resign from politics. (And sometimes they come back to lead their party again *cough* Kim Beazley *cough*) Bob Brown is cool though
