Yeah i'm not sure how or why they were able to have a modified entry list compared to how 28 draw tournaments have been done at the ATP level for a number of years now but the theory behind it is to allow room for players who exit the ATP Cup early. ?‍♂

2 WCs were cleared and so were both SEs, so that allowed four additional players to move into MD here. Then with Medvedev withdrawing, allowed a fifth player to get in.
