So, both Djokovic and Soderling are OUT of the tournament with injuries and this offers us the opportunity to watch a field made of guys almost exclusively Top40.

The tournament is very important because of it's status, many guys need the appearance because this will be their last chance to avoid a point penalty (guys that didn't play Washington) in the 500 category.

So with Ferrer, the number one opportunist on the tour participating in Tokyo, this field looks like a Best Of ATP Tour without any of the Top4. Basically Masters level - minus Top 6.
Interesting settings and undoubtedly a good opportunity to see which player will prevail.

I still don't get why both Nadal and Murray picked Tokyo over Beijing. With this group, I'm going to bet on Simon, depending on how well he plays in Bangkok.

Even though Djokovic and Soderling unfortunatelly are out the field looks good
I hope Tsonga will win this...he definetly has a great chance

But why is not Tipsy playing here?

But Nole will PLAY or not?
I'm not sure but i think no, he won't play
He said after the DC tie against Argentina he'll be out for 4 weeks...
He's not feeling very well so i think he'll try to skip this... don't know if he'll play Shanghai either

I really like this field. Looks awesome and is a great opportunity for these guys with their proverbial shackles released with the best of the best players not playing. Icing on the cake for me if Tsonga takes it, and I think he just might.

I'd bet my money on either Monfils, Tsonga or Ferrero. :)

I just can't wait for the opening ceremonies. I hope the 10,000 drummers are there again. That was really cool.
