The ATP Rankings Points Tracker GRAPH has no changes this week, the thread has been updated, Monday August 24th 2009.

Despite the very small chance that Raphael could recuperate his ATP #2 place from Andy, he needed to win the Cincinatti Title (he lost in the SF in 2008) and that Andy loses in the QF (he won the tournament last year), but neither of these senarios happened. Roger finally turned the tables on Andy Murray and after losing the last 4 matches to him, Roger played an excellent match, then went bon to beat Novak in a less intensive final, even if the 2nd set was far better than the 1st where Novak nearly suffered a bagel.

Rapha will now have to be patient, the gap is widening so unless he wins the US Open 2009 and the others in the Top 5 don't make it to the QFs, then he will do well just to keep his new #3 place. Seeing his performance against Novak, it's not evident that he will have a good run in the U.S.O. this year.

Once again, if only the women in the WTA Tour could win a tournament to move up to WTA #1, then we would have more respect for their system of counting the points and places. At least the men go up in rankings when they win a big tournament, they don't get there through the back-door . . . :(

With the ATP Rankings Points Tracker you can see exactly where the Top 5 Players are coming from, and how they finished the year 2008 and jumped up into year 2009 with the new ATP Points System :

With the ATP Rankings Points Tracker we can see that 4 of the 5 Top 5 ATP players are moving up in the same proportion, it looks less likely now that there could be a change of places :

This GRAPH was updated today.

Nicolas Davydenko is on the rise, a win, a final and a semi final for his last 3 tournaments, he's playing very well, more regular than the Top 3 :
Apr 21 Mast. Srs SF Masters Series, Monte-Carlo.
Apr 14 Int. Srs Finals Estoril Open, Lisbon
Mar 24 Mast. Srs Winner Sony Ericsson Open, Miami, FL.
