GROUP C

Major news are UK saved its ass by defeating Belgium 2/1.

Bulgaria is leading after defeating Moldova with 2 ties won but is far from being favourite against Belgium on Tuesday.

As UK should destroy Moldova, we can have 3 Teams with 2 ties won, and struggling for qualification will be nails and bites...

With results like UK Moldova 3/0 and Belgium Bulgaria 2/1 ranking would be :

1 UNITED KINGDOM 2 6/3 (better set ratio)
2 BELGIUM 2 6/3
3 BULGARIA 2 5/4

But Goffin can qualify Belgium if defeating Dimitrov.

Second would have to wait, 6/3 is not bad but lots of countries like Japon Serbia or Canada may/should reach it as Second Ranked Team.

AUSTRALIA with two ties won is virtually qualified.... It is difficult to imagine Pervolarakis or Greek Double winning even if everything can happen.

CANADA has lost a lot with its 0/3 against Australia.
Its last opportunity to stay in contention for Best Second Ranked Teams is to defeat Germany 3/0 without loosing a set.

how likely is one of the runner up places going to this group?

Russia will blatantly qualify.

Italy can try as Best Second but need a sweep (rubbers and sets) against USA.

USA is out, can try to be ranked second with defeating Italy, but would be a second ranked team with only one tie won which is not enough.

Quite impossible to say.
2 Lucky Loosers out of 6 Groups.

Cut should be something like 2 ties won 7/2 in rubbers or 6/3 with a very good set ratio.

Second Team Group C is close to that cut anyway.

But we need to wait Day 4 to have better perspective.

IMO so far Group D and Group E will not have any LL.
Group F can have if Canada destroys Germany.

Group B can have if Nishioka defeats Basilashvili and then Japan save sets against Spain.

Group A is tricky on paper France more solid than Serbia but less solid than South Africa. Everything possible.

Kuzmanov has a positive H2H against Darcis. They have played before. The H2H between Grigor and David is no secret.

Kuzmanov leads HtoH 1/0 because on clay and a retirement, not sure it can happen again on (even if slow) HC.
That said everything can happen even more in the beginning of the season when nobody is top fit and confident..

I think Dimitrov is a favourite too and that is why I give Belgium 2/1 but here too everything can happen on slow HC.
