Re: Atlanta R1: Young def. Karlovic 2-6 7-6 7-6

Another unreal choke job from Karlovic, who has a ton in 2018. One of the mentally weakest players in tennis IMO, not fully appreciated bc of his style of play. Had the break in set 3, gave up minibreak with awful shot selection in tiebreak, then when he got it back double faulted at 6-6

Two players with freefalling rankings and dried out confidence tanks. Young will probably lose SS in next round and his ranking of 230 will continue to fall because he has points to protect from last summer hard court season. Ivo is most likely in the last paragraphs of his final chapter. At 39 with no confidence he will be lucky to win any matches pre US Open. Enjoy the good Dr while he's around for a few more weeks.

Won't miss Karlovic from the tour to be honest. Does anyone actually enjoy watching the way he plays?

Agreed. He's probably my least favorite player to watch.

I like that he is around and been able to make a living. he used to climb over the fence into the local tennis club early in the morning and late in the evening to practice because he couldn't afford to join. As long as the serve bots don't dominate, which they don't, then its ok to have a few of them around. he's a good story

Both of them are at their low right now. And when it's understandable with Karlovic being an old ass dude, Donald Young's issues are mental..he hasn't been able to keep his concentration for a whole match in a long time. Plus he's still coached by his mom, c'mon now...

Karlovic broke Young 3 times and still lost the match .

This must be new low for dr.Ivo.

I tuned off when he was break up in third.

Ivo had a good run. Especially for a player without backhand.

8 titles, slam QF, wins over Federer and Djokovic when they were world # 1.

9 million dollars career earnings, survived life threatening illness.

Was always dangerous floater in the draw. Federer once said : first thing when draw mas made he watched who is his first opponent. Second thing he was interested in, where was Karlovic in draw.

I hope he will have nice retirement years. Playing occasional exho, rooting for Miami Heat, raising his children.

Life only starts when you are 40 y.o.

Young has been too busy accusing people of racism during the last 1 1/2 years and forgot how to play decent tennis. Maybe this win can give him confidence again
