Nalbi "Houdini" was a break down in the 4th and the 5th :rolls: , but managed to keep an undefeated record both at home and on clay.
:woohoo:
Chucho  :smash:
Russia is next :scared:

Great fight there by Soderling in just over 4 hours, that's what DC is all about. He has nothing to be embarrassed about.

Nalle came through when he needed to and that's what counts.

Well, as the older thread said, Nalbandian is an Argentine Dlouhy ;)

Nice job Dave, but this was never in doubt :p.

Nalbandian always seems to do incredibly well in 5 set matches for a player whose fitness is questioned.

Soderling has a similar sort of game to the only two players to have beaten Nalbandian in DC, but to do it on clay in Argentina rather than indoors as both Safin and Ljubicic did would have been far more impressive. Ah well. I had a feeling when he gave up the early break in the fourth that it had painful five-set defeat written over it, didn't expect him to have a chance to serve for the match at 6-6 in the fifth though.

It's no secret that bigger hitters who can get up and hit down on the ball can trouble Nalbandian but as you rightly say, for Soderling to do it on clay in Argentina is a huge turn up for the books and really an impressive weekend from the Toad.

Soderling saved 3 match points and he is no clay clown. He said in his interview after the Chucho match, he liked the Argentine crowd and I hope they gave him a good send off.

Time for the Russians.

He has always done that, well he has a very efficient game in the way he plays and that helps him.

In this case, you have to take also into account that he had played on Friday and Saturday and he ended in much better shape than Soderling.

Soderling's performance this weekend was the best of any foreign player in Argentina in many years.

Congrats to Argentina, all set for the final against Spain at home.

Well, 69 winners and 33 UE is not exactly bad. Toad: 63 W, 50 UE.

Total points won: 170 vs 167.

Sure Nalby wasn't at his best but I would say Toad made him bad.

Great play and great spirit from Toad. He kept on going for his shots at the end.

I sense he has matured during his injury. Not hard to imagine him top 20 around FO.

Congrats to Argentina and Nalbandian! Well done!

I'm cheering for you to win your first DC now. :wavey:
