Should have been easier, but Vasek is a mug. Surprised he actually dug deep after being a set and a break down and taking 2 MTO's. Now has to face GGL for a spot in the 4th round.

Lorenzi in the 3rd round here would have been a massive joke. We already have Jaziri in R3. That's 1 massive joke too many already.

Lorenzi had a point for 4*-0 in the fourth, good comeback from Vasek to get it done. Hopefully he can keep his run going, a nice chance for the 4th round here.
Vasek's complete willingness to play Lorenzi's game made this a lot more difficult than it should have been. A bit surprised he pulled the victory out after being down a set and a break with his physical problems/the heat, but it is Lorenzi after all.

The next match against GGL is about 50/50 for me. Good chance to have his best slam result.
Very pleased to see Vasek fought back to win this match. I was worried after Vasek lost the first set. Vasek is doing well.

Oh my so Vasek might be injured? I hope Vasek will be okay to play his third round match I remember last year. Why is Vasek even playing doubles? Vasek withdrew last year when he could not play the third round. This is a huge opportunity for vasek.
TSN can show Popsisil match video highlights, but not actually show the video feed of the match. Puzzling.
Vasek took 2 injury time-outs for his back. Hope it doesn't get worse.

It doesn't seem like it's anything serious. And to answer the question...probably because he's one of the best doubles players in the world and thinks he can have success here at that (whether that be winning the title or making money).

I see your point but I feel this year Vasek needs to focus in singles. His ranking is too low in singles. I just feel given the problems Vasek had last year he needs to play the third round match. If it means pulling out of doubles he should do it.
Great that Paolo managed to keep it so close.

Also the first poster not from North America in this thread, do I get a badge for that?
Hopefully the back was only just a niggle! Good job Vashy all the same!
Keep it going my Vashy :cheerleader:
I hope the possible injury isn't anything to worry about
Watched this match and still don´t get it how Vasek won, i mean he was pretty bad, Lorenzi was holding easier, 1st set should have gone to VAsek but after he choked tie-break he was down 2nd set than MTO i though he is injured, because was horrible and here we are nothing wrong with him just played like mug i think Lorenzi was better player, holding easier, having more deuces and close scores
nid. popsicle
Slowly climbing back up the rankings. A win against GGL puts him close to top 50 again.

And with virtually nothing to defend until June as he didn't win a single match in 2014 after this point until grass season. Really should climb back into the top 40 before clay season starts.
