Pippo had a huge chance to take the third set and probably the match. Grosjean would most likely have wilted in the sun if he was kept out there for another hour, but Seb's experience allowed him to close it out.

You're not getting what I'm saying. Filippo has low chances of winning against Seb on hardcourt, I think we've established that. What I am talking about is conditioning. If this made it to 5, or even 4 sets in this weather, Filippo might even become the favourite.
