Well done, Novak. He just finds a way to win.

Hang in there long enough and the errors from Thiem were inevitable.

Good match, without being great imo.

Feel sad for Thiem, hopefully his time comes at RG next time around.

Actually think the improved Djokovic serve helps him with his struggles with the younger generation as none of them are good returners.

This really pains because Djokovic was out there for taking. There’s no shame in losing to the Australian Open GOAT but it still pains and will sting for a while.

Thank you for the great fight until the end, Dominic.

But I’ll keep believing. Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.

Congratulations to Novak and his fans for the record 8th Australian Open title.

Wow. Really thought the Big 3 hegemony was gonna be broken today, but Thiem can be so unclutch in finals.

Grats to Djokovic on 17! Getting closer and cloer to Rafa/Roger.

It was ugly the way Djokovic was behaving against one of the sweetest and kindest guys on tour. Once again he showed his true colors when loosing. And today he lost much more than what he’ve won- lost the respect that a player from his rank deserves. Leave the titles behind, people remember your legacy and he has none.

Well that, was fucking terrible.

Djokovic wouldn't be winning a single slam anymore if he would draw Tsitsipas/Medvedev (or Zverev/Khachanov to take some winds in the first 4 rounds) and then someone like Nadal or Thiem if he would somehow make it past Tsitsipas/Medvedev, yet somehow every slam draw opens up for him.

2018 USO Millman/clownkori/Potro
2019 AO injuredkori/Pouille
2019 WB Goffin/Agut
2020 AO Raonic/Injurederer

Most of the time he just has one match to play and that's the final.

Does anyone actually believe he could play that match with the same clarity, confidence and freshness if taken to more exhausting matches previously, had he played:
2018 USO QF Federer (circa 4 sets)
2019 AO SF Wawrinka (4-5 sets, if he wins at all)
2019 WB QF Medvedev (5 sets, if he wins at all)
2020 AO QF Tsitsipas (5 set win at best, seing Tsitsipas as favorite)

It's draw-opening-up luck. As biased and unfair as it seems to say it. He's gotten historical late stage underperformers who have never done anything against the Big 3 (Nishikori, Raonic, Goffin) or downright weak players (Millman, Agut) instead of brash, cocky young players with more talent, winning records against him and the belief to win (Medvedev, Tsitsipas, Thiem not tired).

It's grossly padding his slam count.
