Basically I've always wanted to speak Spanish, but I'm too lazy to attend classes or anything. Would any of you wonderful Spanish speakers be prepared to help me along. It'd pretty much be starting from scratch, I know very little at the moment. I'm going to use some internet sites as well but I think a good start would be for me to learn some basic everyday words. Any help would be much appreciated.

Gracias :banana:

p.s. It'll also help me when I meet Carla next year :p

Ok, I know.....

Hello = Hola
Goodbye = Adios

I'm also aware of the wierd thing about the male and female verbs, with el and la, but I don't really understand how you can classify certain things as male or female. Like how do I know what a car is? or a house?

There's no rule for things.. you just gotta learn them. Usually words (objects) ending with o (99%) are masc and use el as article and most of words (75%) ending with a use la in this case there are exceptions
