Time to go back to news...unfortunatly with bad news.
Seb lost at first round in Las Vegas vs Sam Querrey, he did still worse than in Marseille !
41 % of first serve, and 0 ace ! Awful performance.

Yeah, I noticed those stats...:rolleyes:

Maybe we should look on the bright side since, even with that performance, he still managed to save quite a few match points and even had one of his own!

He was out because of a shoulder injury, he already was injured in Marseille, so it's not suprising he's struggling in that department. But he said indeed he sometimes feels like he doesn't know anymore how to serve, according to L'Equipe today:

« J’ai parfois l’impression de ne plus savoir servir du tout », regrettait Sébastien GROSJEAN après sa défaite in extremis au premier tour, lundi, contre le grand serveur américain Sam Querrey (6-2, 4-6, 7-6). Malgré un engagement faiblard (35 % de premières balles au premier set, par exemple), le Français a obtenu une balle de match au tie-break du troisième set avant de replier bagages et de rentrer à son domicile floridien en attendant Indian Wells…

A short article in l’Equipe today, he was very downcast after his defeat, apparently, talks about these shoulder issues again, he had to change the tension of his racquet because of that and has no control anymore. He says again he feels like he doesn’t know how to serve anymore.
The rest is more about Söderling-Gasquet, he means Richard should win though, even if Söderling is hitting like crazy.

DÉFAIT D’ENTRÉE par Robin Söderling (6-3, 6-3), Sébastien Grosjean était très abattu après son troisième échec au premier tour d’affilée (après Marseille et Las Vegas). Moins par la défaite que par ses origines. « Je souffre de l’épaule et j’ai subi une infiltration il y a un mois, explique-t-il. Du coup, j’ai dû baisser ma tension de 3 kilos (21/20 au lieu de 24/23) et je n’ai plus aucune sensation. Dès que je veux frapper, je n’ai plus de contrôle… C’est terrible, j’ai l’impression de ne plus savoir servir. » Ce n’est pas le cas de Söderling. « Il frappe tellement fort qu’on dirait qu’il n’a pas vraiment de deuxième balle », souligne Grosjean. Tenu éloigné du circuit pendant plus de six mois à cause d’une grave blessure au poignet droit, le Suédois effectue un retour fracassant. En trois tournois, il vient d’enchaîner un quart (Marseille) et deux finales (Rotterdam, Memphis), assortis de succès sur Roddick et Gasquet… son adversaire au deuxième tour. Les deux joueurs se sont affrontés six fois (dont deux en Challengers) ; Söderling mène 4 victoires à 2. Un mystère pour Grosjean : « Il est en confiance, il tape vraiment très fort, il temporise plus qu’avant, mais je ne vois vraiment pas ce qui pourrait empêcher Richard de s’imposer, estime le Marseillais. D’abord, parce que Söderling reste un joueur irrégulier ; mais surtout parce que Richard possède les armes pour le dominer. Il sait tout faire, il varie très bien, il peut alterner les formes de jeu. Il adore “gratter” la balle de loin. Ça devrait énormément gêner Söderling. Sur dix matches, je donnerais Richard vainqueur sept fois. » Ce sera leur premier affrontement sur dur extérieur. As always, thanks for the article!

Seb didn't withdraw from Sunrise and even won his opening match there against Luczak 6-3 6-4. But the second round is against the winner of Massu-Nishikori, going to be tough in any case. Hopefully Sebastien feels better, he needs more victories so badly.

Now funny that it's indeed going to be Kei Nishikori. The boy is a Japanese-born player, who lives and practises in the States and who has recently taken his first ATP title.
Though, for instance, Llodra also won a few tournaments last months and still keeps losing in first rounds :p So let's hope for the best. The match is scheduled for this afternoon, US time.

Yes, a pity it's a desert here, but I guess it's because there is nothing sensationally new about Seb. No big victories.. no articles in Voici, no topless or model pictures, no new haircuts or style changes or whatsoever :eek: Just good old Seb we love :angel:

(I haven't posted anything here lately as the only coverage of Seb over the past couple of months has been blinking numbers on a scoreboard...:rolleyes:)

UPD. Grosjean def Starace 6-1 3-6 6-3. Well done, but he was broken quite a few times during the match. Next is Melzer.

Good choice for Grosjean to play this challenger. He got much needed victories before Miami and has a good shot at the title now and the 80ATP points that come with it.

Friday match report and photos.
Boca Raton resident Sebastian Grosjean is very happy to be through to the semi-finals at the BMWTC for the first time. “You don’t have the points like you have on the regular tour, but you know you have the wins against really good players here,” he said after today’s quarter-final win over Potito Starace. “So now there’s two more matches to play and to win so I think all the players want to win the tournament now.”

Of today’s win over Italy’s number two player, he said, “I played a really good match. Starace is a great player, he’s really dangerous when he’s taking the point with his forehand. I tried to be close to the baseline, to play deep and come in a little bit more to the net, and I won a lot of important points at the net, that helped me a lot to win.”

The first set was a 6-1 breeze for Grosjean, but Starace jumped out to an early 4-1 lead in the second, closing that one out 6-3. The third set started with a pair of service breaks, but then Grosjean got into a groove, spicing up his game with a mix of baseline winners, slices and volleys. Serving at 5-3, Grosjean lured the Dutchman into the net with a drop-shot, then hit a brilliant passing shot to close out the match.

“I served well but I think I served a little bit better yesterday,” Grosjean said. “It was a little bit more wind today so, but I was happy the way I played you know I was aggressive on the court, I tried to come to the net and not give him the opportunity to be aggressive, and it works. I played him only once, at the French Open and he beat me like a couple years ago. I mean he’s a good player, he’s got really consistent results, he’s maybe better on a clay court but he’s really dangerous and plays well on a hard court that’s not too fast, so I think it’s a good win.”

Tomorrow afternoon the Frenchman faces Austrian Jurgen Melzer, who won the event in 2004. “I think it’s going to be different because he’s a lefty, and he’s a strange player, he comes to the net, hits the drop shot, he’s a really great player to watch,” Grosjean said, “and I will need to be aggressive also, and don’t let him dictate the point. Jurgen is a great player, always do well on a hard court, and even on clay, so it will be a tough match, he wants to win but I also want to win. So it’s going to be an interesting match.”

I'm more surprised with Tom. He is almost twice taller than the last time I saw a picture of him, he was such a little baby-boy then lol And he looks so much like his father, he is adorable :) And yes, Lola also is a big girl now!

I guess you have already seen that?
* Sebastien Grosjean, who turns 30 on May 29, says his plan right now is to play through the 2009 season and retire. Of course, plans change, especially if he catches a hot streak. But that's the plan at this point. If he does retire, he'll face a very important decision about where to live -- to remain in Boca Raton, which has been home for eight years, or go back to his roots in the south of France...
