Novak Djokovic has once again proved that he is a mighty force in tennis, one that can be described as virtually unstoppable. Despite being barred from playing from both hard-court slams and every big outdoor hard-court tournament, the Serb continued to defy the odds and silence his critics.

Forehead Nose Chin Eyebrow Smile

Here is a list of records surpassed, equaled or extended by the mighty Serb in 2022.

* By winning the Italian Open, Djokovic extended the record for most Masters titles to 38.

* By winning the Wimbledon championships, Djokovic equaled the record for the highest number of grand slam titles excluding the player's most successful slam. (Novak has 12 titles outside Australia and Federer has 12 titles outside Wimbledon).

* By winning the Wimbledon championships, Djokovic also has 19 titles on grass and hard courts which equals Federer's record outside clay.

* Djokovic won one title in each of ATP's categories (barring Olympics which is held once in four years) - Grand Slam, 1000, 500, 250 and ATP finals. He thus equaled Federer's record since the reorganization of the tour in the late 2000s (Federer had accomplished this in 2010).

* Djokovic's 6th victory at the ATP finals equaled the record for most title wins at that tournament. He once again equaled Federer.

* Djokovic became the oldest winner at ATP finals at the age of 35, breaking Federer's record by over five years!

* Djokovic also broke the record for the longest span between his first ATP finals win (2008) and last (2022) - fourteen years.

* Djokovic extended his lead for most big ATP titles to 65. Nadal is next at 59.

* Djokovic extended the record for most weeks as the number one ranked ATP player to 373 weeks.

* Djokovic extended the record for most wins as number one ranked player in the world to 448.

* Djokovic also has the best win percentage in ATP history. It now stands at 83.47%. Nadal is second at 83.14%. During the course of the year, Djokovic overtook Nadal.

* Djokovic holds the record for most big titles on hardcourts. He extended it to 45.

* Djokovic holds the record for most Masters 1000 titles won without dropping a set. He extended it to 11.

* Djokovic became the first player to record 30 or more wins at every Masters 1000 tournament.

* Djokovic also became the only player to have 20+ wins against five different opponents. His five opponents are Nadal, Federer, Murray, Wawrinka and Berdych. They have a combined 48 grand slam titles between them!

* Djokovic extended the record for the most wins against top ten opponents to 240.

* Djokovic also holds the record the most wins against top five opponents. The number is 114.

* By beating Gael Monfils, Djokovic established an 18-0 record against the Frenchman. This was subsequently equaled by Rafael Nadal (against Richard Gaquet, another Frenchman).

This and many more records were smashed by Novak Djokovic. One wonders how many records will Nole break in 2023?

Most grand slam titles, most Wimbledon titles, more AO titles, Masters, ATP finals, weeks as number one, another year end finish as number one, maybe?
