British tennis found itself with a ready made second top 100 player on when Aljaz Bedene, the world No 83, announced that he is now a UK citizen.
The 25-year-old is originally from Slovenia but since 2008 has lived in Welwyn Garden City with his girlfriend Kimalie, a pop star in her native land who is a protegee of renowned record producer Jeff Wayne.
Bedene attended a citizenship ceremony in Hatfield on Tuesday and posted pictures of the occasion. He will formally receive his passport within the next two weeks and start entering tournaments as a British player.

Thoughts? :confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

It fascinating that England, country of 50 million and a good infrastructure and good standard, cannot produce a top 100 player by itself.

a talentless nation. pretty much
We're actually quite talented. We do fairly great at the olympics, do we not? With the exception of the obvious Big 3 (USA, Russia, China) we're usually the best country who wins the most medals :shrug:

Indeed, Great Britain is just in a bad streak, like it has happened with Sweden and Australia and like will happen with Spain in the future. But having a TOP country player like Murray is great, the problem is the depth but better years will come.

Don't be a silly fellow now chap. Are we struggling tennis wise? You bet. Football, boxing and other sports? Fuck no. We're in overdrive with those sports.
Football? You mean getting knocked out in the group stages in World Cup, or overrated clubs filled with foreigners who are laughing stock in Champions league?

Britain was 3rd overall in the last Olympics and had a better per capita record than the 2 nations above. Britain recently has bene the best in the world at some point in Cycling, Amateur boxing, Rowing, Equastarian, Rugby, Cricket, F1 racing, Triathlon and has a grand slam winner in tennis currently active.

Meanwhile Germany (I assume your flag is your country) has been relatively poor at everything except football.
