"On the verge of testing positive..." What the hell that's supposed to mean? 馃ぃ
Let me take a wild guess: The first take was not completely conclusive. Let's say it produced something resembling a positive response, but not clear enough to unambiguously be interpreted as such. A second test has been taken to confirm or reject the preliminary conclusion (positive), and we are waiting for the analysis of that one.

Except, coach wasn't given a 2nd test to clear potential confusion and false-positive, since he had it 2.5 months ago. Read the interview posted on previous page, the decision was made several hours later (without taking 2nd test), that's why it was 'on the verge'.

How strict of a line are French/Parisian authorities taking in general with public events? RG might be afraid of having the whole event shut down by health authorities/politicians if they seem too lenient with people testing positive.

Could be, I suppose.

It certainly seems to be the case that "deactivated" virus from an infection some time ago, which is incapable of doing anything, can be picked up by some of these tests.

If they eject Dzumhur from qualies, they should label him a lucky loser and put him on the standby list. Good chance a number of people will test positive. There's still a week till the tournament starts 鈥 plenty of time for more positive tests to show up. And plenty of time for more tests that would confirm Dzumhur to be negative. They are going to need a roster of replacements. Better a player who was once ranked inside the top 30 than some useless French junior who gets triple bageled.
