Not the greatest of matches, but the player in better overall form got the job done and the backhand across court to get the match point from Almagro was class.

He plays Acasuso for a place in the final and will be favoured to make it.

Acapulco Quarterfinal: Almagro def Massu 4-6,6-3,6-3

Tough match-both were playing well tonight but Almagro came out ahead.

Good tournament for Nico Massu despite the loss tonight. :rocker2:

Almagro is actually having a solid clay season so far. This consistency is not that common for him.

It was good to see Mucho not panicking after losing the 1st set playing a typical brainless serve game. Now we get the battle of the master tacticians in the semis between Mucho and Chucho.

Almagro showing some more consistent form this year so far.

He's 12-1 on clay for the year and his defeat was by retirement.

Fantastic win by Nico but also very good performance by Massú! It was definetely a great match but even greater was Teledeporte, showing the tournament in Spain! Great coverage: Rotterdam, Marseille, Buenos Aires, now Acapulco... finally we've got a TV channel which seems to know that tennis is someting more than Nadal. :yeah:
