Open penpix from Reuters:

- - - 6-Nikolay Davydenko (Russia)

Age: 24

Lives: Monte Carlo

Plays: Right-handed, double-handed backhand

Grand Slam titles: None

Record at U.S. Open: 2004-third round, 2003-second round, 2002-second round, 2001-first round

Ultra-consistent Ukraine-born baseliner who is enjoying the best year of his career having reached six semi-finals on the tour.

The next step for the Russian is to win some titles. Despite his success he has only won one tournament in 2005, at St Poelten in May.

Reached quarter-finals of Australian Open and the semi-finals of the French Open this year to chalk up his best grand slam displays.

May lack the raw power to cope with the top players in New York and appears to find it difficult to rise to the occasion when faced with top 10-ranked opponents.
