Would be so much better if they didn't offer the 1.5m for showing up and put that extra $9 million into the prize pool.

Could do 500k for 5 And 6

$1.5 million for 3 and 4

$3 million for 2nd

$8 million for 1st

That would make it a $5 million match in the finals, which is definitely interesting no matter how wealthy the players already are.
Yes but 500k to show up is chump change, not worthy of 6 Kings Slam finances

Plus the players may think twice before showing up for 500k

1.5M? And there is no hesitation

I don't understand. It's the world Top 5 + Tsitsipas (you can call him a WC if you like). Initially, it was Draper instead of Tsitsipas (so, all Top 6 distinct national leaders in the ATP Rankings when these were announced). It looks like it's one player per nation only, so alternatives would have been: De Minaur, Khachanov, Ruud, Rune, Mensik, Cerundolo, Fils, Bublik, Dimitrov, FAA. Ruud has Grand Slam finals, just like Tsitsipas in his resume, but maybe he declined participating. Rune was there last year. Don't think Tsitsipas is that much worse of a choice compared to the other choices, but at least he sells tickets as casuals don't actually follow form that much.
People talking about "fair"

Fair is a place where you judge pigs

This is a business

I'm sure you have noticed people in your country are taught to be obsessed with money, last week I asked an American what his favorite childhood memory is and he said finding some money on the street :ROFLMAO:. How depressing
Finding money on the street sounds fun to me

Americans, we don't really do the "favorite childhood memory" thing or reflecting on good times, etc

No time for that bullshit. It is always GO GO GO, where is the next dollar

Ruud has a 3-year contract with Stockholm which is held the same week as Six Kings. And even if he didn't have one and was invited, judging by his last year's interview on the topic, his managers would advise him against participating.
Ruud is a nice boy, not going to get involved in all this

Its anticipated because of the prize money? Only for the players involved. Can only see this if u have Netflix which I am not paying for.

Heres what u do. Give me free fin access as apparently there is more than enough dough to waste on this thing. If its so important why is it not airing on TC in the very least?
Politics

Tour may be embarrassed at the money on offer and would rather pretend it isn't happening, or throw shade during commentary

It doesn't even count on their h2h records so who gives a crap....
Don't be surprised if they count 6 Kings Slam after the fact like Laver Cup

But then again ATP and Riyadh are hardly bed fellows

What does H2H have to do with anything really... The mighty H2H record. That's what tennis is about!

The bonus for the winner is 4.5 million dollars. That really should tell you why a player would give a crap and try to chase down a shot and two. For the duration of two (Djokovic and Alcaraz) or three matches (the rest).

The prize money remains unchanged but the marketing budget must have taken a serious hit. Or they've changed the marketing manager. They went from likely the greatest tennis event promo video ever - a very high quality production - to AI slop (the poster) and sth that looks like a Netflix employee put together in a rush 5 minutes before the DL (the video). I also wonder what happened to the original concept of each player having some scribbles on them... The movie "The Number 23" type visuals. Suddenly they changed course to the playing card theme. Not nearly as well executed promo/marketing wise this time around. And the health of a few of them is also in question. At least Zverev (back) and Djokovic (potentially the back too, and maybe the ankle). Sinner's issues seemed to only be due to the heat, and Alcaraz has probably recovered by now from that minor ankle tweak. Should be another Sinneraz final.

If the matches don't count on h2h it's like they never even happened, you may as well just go watch them play practice sessions. Why should fans care about millionaries earning more millions in exhibition matches? Sinner and Alcaraz both already have more than 50 million in prize money not to mention all the sponsorships, why care which one of them gets another 4.5 million as if it matters lol.

If the practice session involves a 4.5 million prize for the winner of the session, then sure, I expect a similar level of hustle as at the Six Kings Slam.

I'm not sure you've quite grasped what may and may not motivate players to put in the effort. Which one do you reckon counts more as a motivator to put in effort: a notch in the H2H tally or 4.5 million dollars... And as for watching matches: if the players put in max effort (as they will do for 4.5 million) why would you then not watch the match... This is competitive tennis we're talking about. If the players compete, isn't that the point... Or what's your motivation to watch the players play. I don't quite get your point. You need ATP to tell you sth has an official status and then you will watch, no matter what the level of hustle is?

Btw. Challenger matches don't count towards the H2H --> They never happened and are not worth watching, right?

edit. I'll put this here too:
