Re: The ATP OTW Jinx

Only two real successes: Verkerk and Coria.

Let's spare a thought for Filippo Volandri, newly-crowned ATP OTW. :(

Re: The ATP OTW Jinx

Usually the OTW is a player that won a tournament recently, and its hard to do well in two tournaments back to back coz you'll be tired from the other week. Thats just my theory anyway, i'm not even sure if those guys did win tournaments recently.

There are plenty of players who have won back to back titles. I know Coria did so this year, Ferrero perhaps (not sure), Safin in 2000. I'm to lazy to look the rest up , but I think players CAN do well back to back, but depending of course on their confidence and whether the surface suits them.

The jinx is back to full force these 2 weeks. Last week's OTW Nicolas Lapentti lost his first round match and so as this week's Ivan Ljubicic.

And there goes another OTW, Richard Gasquet. He nearly made it (5 match points in the 2nd set)...

5 mps couldn't help Richard out of the Jinx

The only one who stayed strongly against the Jinx was Moya, in the week of DC semifinal.

He actually had 6 Match Points.

Oh, and Ferrero played even better than Moyá against Gaudio in Davis Cup.

Re: The ATP OTW Jinx

Actually, Moya just narrowly missed being Jinxed in DC semifinal. He was 2 sets down to Zabaleta. Even he himself was thinking that he's going to lose the tie. And then, all in a sudden, Zabaleta got cramping in his legs...

Well Moya's jinx came in Madrid - he was the OTW that week too and lost in the 2nd round.
