Nadal really has not been lucky in this tournament.

On the way over, he lost part of his luggage when he had to change airplanes, I believe in Frankfurt.
He had to wait two days for his first opponent.
Now two matches in one day (if it doesn't rain tomorrow) and his shoulder is - apparently - giving him a bit of trouble.

Good luck to both Coria and Nadal!

PS I'm sure it has already happened before.

Happened last year around this time, but I can't remember if it was Japan or Shanghai. I think it was Japan. Played two rounds on Thursday.

The worst I remembered was WTA in Scottsdale 2003. The rain was so bad that Sugiyama had to play her single semifinal in the morning, then final vs Clijster in the afternoon, afterward, teamed up with Clijster in the doubles final.

Even the ATP website says: "Rafael Nadal and Guillermo Coria are scheduled to play two rounds on Friday."
so i guess these two matches are already fixed by the ATP;)

but seriously, i think it's quite disrespectful from the ATP towards these two guys. since when are matches decided even before they have begun?

It's not disrespectful, when they're top ten players and have won enough that people think they have a chance to win matches, then they will be mentioned.

I'm sure Rafa is completely stressed out between having to play 2 matches on Friday with more rain likely coming and he won't be able to go home after the tournament...straight to Italy for Davis Cup.
