Klahn was not playing for Stanford so this was a classic mis match.

So Cal swept the doubles

singles:

1: Steve Johnson def 37 Ryan Thacher 7-6 6-7 (10-3) - Surprisingly close. Thacher have a great fight
2: 12 Ray Sarmiento def 75 Matt Kandath 6-3 6-1
3: 16 Daniel Nguyen def Denis Lin 6-4 6-4
4: 48 Emilio Gomez def John Morissey 6-2 6-2
5: 33 Yannick Hanfmann def Robert Stineman 6-3 6-2
6: Roberto Quiroz def Daniel Ho 6-2 2-6 (10-6)

Pretty much a beatdown all the way through. USC looking scary

Why does Steve Johnson still play college tennis. He has a shot to be top 100. How much longer will he be there? And surprisingly close between Quiroz and Ho. USC is good though.

This is his last year of eligibility. I read somehwere that USC coach Peter Smith will allow him to play pro events in lieu of collge matches if its a match USC should easily have in hand. The only reason he came back was so he could be one of the very few players to win 4 team national champions in all 4 of their seasons at the school.

and frankly USC should be able to win every other match even without Johnson minus a few. The ones they need him for are the ones in the upcoming indoor nationals, Stanford match later in the year when Stanford has Klahn, UCLA matches, Cal match, and then of course the NCAA's

It's hard to believe Stevo is a senior. Seems like just the other day he was an incoming freshman
