New year.
The first title came in the 2nd month, when Jo won Marseille by defeating Tomas Berdych in the final 3-6 7-6(6) 6-4

ALLEZ, JO!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well guys. I have decided to create a brand new thread about the StrongaWagon. Who needs to be revived like in the good-old times.
2011... A year of surprises. Tsonga getting strong again, putting the so called "Duopoly" under his strong arm and punching 'em like Ali.

The Ali of tennis is back. He's just a deserved top 10 again, 2011 is the new 2008.
He's the only player that the "big 4" fear.
He's the only one who can stop the non-slam-france.

He's waving the french flag again, and this time, there's no mercy.

They fear him... And they're right doing it.

Bad choke Jo . I agree with Danakz,he needs a coach, because he's had similar losses against Kei in Australia & Delpo in Marseille, altpugh he didnt choked on that matches.

What is wrong with Jo lately?? After Doha, he has been incredibly poor. And I'm not liking his unmotivated attitude out there.....wake up dammit  !!!!!

Mixed bag with Tsonga today. He lost his serve in a pretty frustrating way and his 1st serve percentage was dreadful. But when his 1st serve went in he won most of the points and even on his 2nd serve he only just under 60% I think. Oh and he played the big points well. Hopefully he can beat Mayer and set up a potential meeting with Nadal.

Didn't watch enough of it to see how he was rallying.

Ok. Dream over, lost vs Nadal 2-6 7-5 6-4.
Nothing more to say. During great part of the match, Tsonga could have won the match.
Maybe next time.

At least it was a good tournament, considering his recent results and form. Now he plays DC QF vs USA, w/ Llodra, Bennetau and Monfils.

Tsonga has won atleast two matches in every tournament he has played this year so atleast he isn't going down in the 1st round. Just needs to find some form soon as he hasn't had any 'highs' recently.

Re: The NEW, improved STRONGAWAGON - Jo won DOHA!!! First title in 2012!!!

The problem for Jo this year is that he lacks a big win/ big result, unlike last year when he got 10 Top-10 wins :p. Another bad thing is that he's having easy draws until QF in every events and sometimes he can't take advantage ( eg. Nishikori at A.O & Nalbandian in Indian Wells). Even with our view that he's playing bad ( which he certainly is) he is #6 in the rankings, with a 900+ lead over Berdych, and #11 in the RACE, only 140 pts. away from Top-8.

A brief resume about his season so far:
W: Doha
SF: Marseille
QF: Dubai, Miami
R4: Australian Open, Indian Wells

Best win coming over #14 Monfils in Doha, 0-3 vs Top-10's, 18-5 W/L ratio.

Overall solid results, but considering his great play at indoor season in 2011 we expected more.

I don't think we can complain too much, he's doing so much better than he was this time last year, albeit slightly disappointing afer his run at the last part of 2011. He is really in need of a big result and I fear that it won't come until the grass court season, as clay is definitely not his strength. Having said that, hopefully he can get a masters QF and live up to his seeding at RG and that would be fantastic.

I think the the one thing that is in Jo's favour is that he is so confident on grass I have the feeling as soon as that part of the season swings round he is almost guaranteed to find some form, which hopefully he can carry into the entire 2nd half of he year like last year.

Oh, and he'll be no.5 next week if he wins one of his DC matches. (pretty sure on this)

He just needs a massive slap to the face to wake up.

Disaapointing DC week for Jo  He defeated Harrison in 4 sets, but lost to Isner in 4 sets. FRA lost the tie 2-3, Isner was too good for them, Jo was really sad at the end of the match.

Re: The NEW, improved STRONGAWAGON - Jo won DOHA!!! First title in 2012!!!

Didn't expect France to wi, or Jo to beat Isner. Horrible decision to play on clay. Jo's worst surface and Isner's best. Still, he's up to no.5 and and has some points to gain during the clay court season. To be honest, losing in 4 sets to Isner isn't that bad considering it was on clay.

Re: The NEW, improved STRONGAWAGON - Jo won DOHA!!! First title in 2012!!!

What he said about Gilles was a bit uncool.

"Cependant, hier, Tsonga regrettait qu’il n’ait pas pu le fatiguer plus longtemps : « Si Gilles avait pu gagner un set vendredi, le peu qu’il manquait pour faire la différence, on l’aurait peut-être eu…

However, yesterday, Tsonga was sorry he could not tire him longer, "If Gilles could win a set Friday, the little that was missing to make a difference, it might have been."

Why blame Gilles, Jo? Davis Cup is a team thing, everyone has to do their part and Jo lost too...and Gilles was coming from a sore back.

Good win over Kohly, a tricky opponent.

Difficult match vs Verdasco now.
Verdasco can play a great clay level if he wants.
So... BRING IT ON!

The weird thing about Tsonga this year is that despite him playing poorly (and obviously so to people who watch tennis) he has won atleast 2 matches in every tournament he has entered, so he has had no really early losses. Hopefully he can have a really good clay court season (a semi in monte carlo hopefully and then atleast a quarterfinal in Madrid or Rome) with a Quarter-Final at the French. Then we're back onto grass where Tsonga just seems to find confidence.

Tsonga was just awesome in the TB. Nando for once didn't choke the SPs, it was all Jo seizing them. What clutch play . Super-proud of him.

Clownga X 100000 of the highest order :stupid: :stupid: :stupid: :stupid: :stupid: :stupid:. Losing to a lethargic Simon who was there for the beating, but instead spray 30 UE's in the space of 5 games to lose from 4-1 to 4-6 :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash:.
