A stunning performance from Alcaraz today. The highlights should have some goodies in there. 39 winners (with only one of them being an ace). 18 unforced errors. Finished the match with a clean game with 4 winners.

Set 1 (performance rating 9.6/10):

I just hope he didn't tweak his ankle on the first point of the final game. But yes scary performance from Carlos today, hitting winners at will from and into all positions of the court.
Just off topic but: exactly this was my love for Monica Seles 30 years ago...when I saw her as a litlle girl playing her matches on WTA and she was able to hit winners from really every position on court. Every position. Fore- and backhand. That was so so so impressive and put up a new level.

How many wins do you think Alcaraz will end up this season? I think 83 is the max possible wins (see breakdown below) if he wins the titles in Tokyo, Shanghai, Paris, and the ATP Finals. I am excluding the Davis Cup Finals because I don't know if he is confirmed to play in them.

I think at least 10 more wins for 75 total is definitely reachable if Alcaraz stays healthy with a realistic chance at 80 wins. My final guess is 78 wins for 2025 to tie Murray's 2016 season.

Tokyo - 2 more possible wins
Shanghai - 6 possible wins (2024 - 3 wins)
Paris - 5 possible wins (2024 - 1 win)
ATP Finals - 5 possible wins (2024 - 1 win)

Excellent performance from Alca today. Forehand and serve were on fire! However, I think he should keep it for the potential final against Fritz. I'm not sure if it's ideal for him or for anyone else to play at the same monstrously high intensity in every single match. I'm afraid it will backfire at some point in the future. Even Nadal didn't play like this, and we know how many issues he had with his body and injuries later in his career. But for now, let's keep rolling!

Sounds like some serious hopium.

The kid played the match today like a training session, 100% relaxed, and going after every ball for shits and giggles.

edit. I see ATP had those highlights already removed. đź‘€ Lightning quick on the case.

edit 2. Ok, ATP have now uploaded their own:

Alcaraz was phenomenal, brilliant shot-making from him and very few errors. Good to see him maintain his focus and play such a good final game after failing to convert multiple MPs in the previous return game.

I still have a very small concern about his ankle - he winced in pain in the closing stages of the match after sprinting to the BH side to pull off an incredible volley (video clip below). Hopefully, it's nothing.

This level is seriously incredible, He just clobbers every ball like it's nothing and then switches to drop shots and perfect volleys on a dime, coupled with a sweet serve, lightning speed and defensive prowess, he truly is the big 3 in 1 when he's at his best. This guy has an extra level I haven't seen before... Not sure if the ATP is quite ready for Peak Alcaraz if he can hold this level for 5-10 years.
