Shang Juncheng, who has been out of action since the AO, has announced that he is recovering well following surgery on his foot.

Yeah, I saw. My first thought was maybe now Shelton will find a way to beat him... unless it's another filler 250/500 event.

More withdrawals from Miami
Four lucky losers into the draw after late withdrawals from Jarry (fractured toe), Griekspoor (picked up R ankle injury in IW), Nishikori (fatigue/back injury), and Hurkacz (back injury). Zhang also withdrew (?shoulder).

Retirements/walkovers in Miami
Nishioka retired in R1 down 4-6, 1-3 (shoulder injury again).
Diallo retired in R2 down 4-6, 3-2 (ankle injury).
Machac gave a walkover in R4 (illness).

Withdrawals from Houston, Bucharest and Marrakech
There’s been a flood of withdrawals from these tournaments. May not all be injury related but the ones that are include Monteiro (R leg injury), Faria (bone edema in his foot), Shang (still recovering from foot surgery).
Likely to be something up with Passaro (not played since Buenos Aires, not sure why).

Update on Michelsen: He played Miami, but revealed that he lost 15 lbs in weight after coming down with food poisoning in Acapulco and a suspected virus in IW.

Retirements in the trio of tournaments (Houston, Bucharest, Marrakech)
Nishikori retired in R16 of Houston after losing the 1st set 1-6 (possibly back again?)
Martinez retired in QF of Marrakech down 1-6, 0-2 (not sure of reason).

Withdrawals
Marozsan withdrew from Bucharest (L ankle injury).
Rune and Fritz both pulled out of UTS in Rimes (knee injury and abdominal injury respectively) and then Fritz also withdrew from Monte Carlo.
Hurkacz is the other big name to withdraw from Monte Carlo (not played since IW, lower back trouble).
Van deZandschulp withdrew from qualies in Monte Carlo (viral infection), Nishioka and Zhang were among other players to withdraw from qualies (ongoing shoulder problem for Nishioka, not sure about Zhang).

Marozsan withdrew from Bucharest (L ankle injury).
Will he even play his match against Monfils today? Their match is still scheduled, but concerns should be there.

Hurtcatch has been injured in one way or another since Wimby '24. Can't catch a break (of serve).
On tha Fritz has had that recurring ab issue before. Not sure that's an easy fix getting older.

Side note: Osteosori hurt his rib during Money-Carload after dubz match. Shaleton is not at fault & was not mentioned or implied as such.

Retirements in Monte Carlo
Rune retired down 2-6, 0-3 against Borges in R1 (illness).

Withdrawals from Munich
Zhang (3rd withdrawal in a row, not played since IW, not sure what the problem is, possibly knee)
Hurkacz (also 3rd withdrawal in a row & not played since IW, back injury - recently said "I want to return to the court 100% confident, healthy, and fully ready. I'm getting there, and I'll be back soon…")
Fritz (ab injury)
Borges (L wrist injury)
Tabilo (L wrist injury)
Halys (R leg injury)

Withdrawals from Barcelona
Sonego (?)
Nishikori (upper back injury, turned down a MDWC)
Machac (gastro illness)
Musetti (R thigh injury, hampered him in the MC final)

Also a significant question mark over Dimitrov's fitness (0-6, 0-6 loss to de Minaur in MC QF, scheduled to play Madrid and Rome next)

More withdrawals from Munich
Monfils and Lehecka were two more late withdrawals from Munich. Tournament ended up with 5 LLs in total!

Retirements in Munich and Barcelona
Shapovalov ret. 6-7, 0-3 down in R1 Munich to LL Deduro-Palomero (?)
Tsitsipas ref. 0-2 down in QF Barcelona to Fils (back spasm).

Withdrawals from upcoming tournaments
Tabilo has withdrawn from Madrid (L wrist).
Further withdrawals by Zhang and Shang - Zhang has withdrawn from Madrid, Shang has withdrawn from Madrid, Rome and RG.

Other injuries
Humbert broke his R pinky finger after a fall in his hotel room at the beginning of the month but has been playing on.
Alcaraz affected by R adductor injury in Barcelona final, but currently planning on playing Madrid.

Late withdrawals from Madrid
4 LLs into the bottom half of the draw after 4 late withdrawals from Thompson (multiple injuries this season, now seems to be low back), Carballes Baena (L hip), Nishioka (L shoulder), and Alcaraz (R adductor tear).

Retirements/walkovers this week in Madrid (8 of them!)
Moutet ret. 3-6, 2-4 down in R1. (Could have been mistaken for a rage quit but he said it was his back).
Goffin ret. after 1 game in the 3rd set in R1 (R ankle/Achilles, looked serious).
Van de Zandschulp ret. 1-4 down in the 3rd set in R1 (had off-court MTO, ?L thigh).
Djere walkover in R2 (L shoulder).
Monfils walkover in R2 (illness).
Rune ret. 2-6 down in R2 (R knee).
Darderi ret. 5-7, 1-3 down in R2 (?illness).
Bonzi ret. at 1 set all in R3 (looked like L hip or low back).

Retirements in the 2nd week of Madrid
Berrettini ret. after losing a 1st set TB in R3 (ab injury).

Withdrawals from Rome
5 players have withdrawn with injuries/illness:
Zhang (has been out since IW, not much info but may be L knee?)
Tabilo (L wrist – his ranking will drop as he was a semi-finalist in Rome last year)
Goffin (the injury in Madrid was a partial tear of the plantar fascia – he is likely to miss RG)
Monfils (viral illness)
Nishikori (R shoulder)

More withdrawals from Rome
4 lucky losers into the draw after late withdrawals from the following players:
Bergs (shoulder)
Bonzi (ab injury)
Struff (R leg)
FAA (back)

Retirements in Rome
Carballes Baena ret. in R1 after losing the 1st set (?groin/hip)
Thompson walkover in R2 (back)
Humbert ret. in R2 down 3-6, 0-4 to Moutet (not sure if it's still the broken finger R hand or something else)
Berrettini ret. in R3 down 5-7, 0-2 (recurrent ab injury)

Withdrawals from Hamburg, Geneva and RG
Flurry of players withdrawing from Hamburg and Geneva (among others: Dimitrov, Tsitsipas, Korda, Mensik, Shapovalov, Griekspoor, Sonego, Medjedovic) - some of whom will simply want a rest week ahead of RG, some of whom may be nursing injuries .
Rune withdrew from Hamburg (citing a persistent infection), Humbert and Thompson both withdrew from Hamburg/Geneva respectively (likely still injured following retirements in Rome).
Zhang has withdrawn from RG.

Retirements in Hamburg and Geneva
Collignon retired at 5-6 in the 1st set in R1 in Hamburg (avulsion fracture R thumb).
Nishikori retired down 5-7, 2-5 during a rain delay in R2 in Geneva (?}
Machac retired down 3-4 in the 3rd set in R2 in Geneva (probably cramps).

More withdrawals from RG
6 LLs into the draw after late withdrawals from Goffin (R foot injury), Collignon (R thumb injury), Berrettini (R oblique injury), Nishikori (?), Ruusuvuori (ongoing anxiety disorder), and Carballes Baena (L psoas injury).

Withdrawals from Wimbledon
Shang has pulled out of Wimbledon. He hasn’t played since his retirement in the AO and subsequent foot surgery.

What the fuck is the thread name? Injurati? You mean Illuminati?
I know a little Spanish and I'm sure "injurati" does not even mean anything remotely close to "injured".
Thread was started by @USATP, who likes wordplay and uses language a little differently to most other people! However, I think in this instance it might be from the Latin.

1. Dang, Shang. Didn't realize it's been so long. I wonder if he'll look to return in earnest during the HCs, especially the Asian swing?
2. What is going on with MyHatch? So many retirements, it's giving AARP & Social Security. Wonder if he'll spill the tea later.
3. Yeah, I read the Reservoiri ATP article. Made me think about what Garcia said about her retirement from the sport.

@artoisdesouza Given the injury withdrawals of Gaston & now Fils, where does RG stand heading into the second week?
Retirements from RG
Machac retired down a set and a double break in R1 (low back injury). It is his 5th retirement/walkover of the season.
Nishioka retired in R1 early in the 3rd set after playing and losing 2 competitive sets (glute/lower back?)
Dimitrov retired in R1, leading by 2 sets to 1 (Lthigh/groin injury), his 4th consecutive retirement in a slam.
Gaston gave a w/o in R2, after playing a 5-set match in the previous round (groin?)
Humbert retired down 3-6, 4-4 in R2 after a fall (R calf/ankle?)
Fils gave a w/o after his R3 match (back injury)

Withdrawals from Wimbledon and other upcoming tournaments
Ruusovuori has withdrawn from Wimbledon (mental health).
Likely that Fils will miss at least part of the grass season, but nothing official yet.
