Le Français, issu des qualifications, disputait son sixième match de la semaine face à l'invité Victor Hanescu, héros roumain depuis son quart de finale à Roland-Garros mais actuel 151e mondial.

"Je me suis fait mal en début de match, une petite contracture qui m'a gêné tout le match, mais comme je n'aime pas abandonner j'ai essayé de tenir jusqu'au bout", a déclaré Monfils, estimant avoir fait "un cadeau à Hanescu" durant l'heure et 8 minutes d'échanges. Il a également expliqué cette blessure par un "manque d'entrainement" et un "terrain de mauvaise qualité sur lequel les appuis étaient très durs".

No, he wasn't there. I'm not sure who was with Gaël in Bucharest, all the reports only mentioned the gf (I can believe he was not properly prepared for so many matches and was having some physical issues, I was thinking the same by watching the match, but that's his own problem.)
Gaël said in an interview they're still working together with Tarik though.
Tarik is supposed to launch his new tennis academy in Florida in October, I don't know if he'll be very available in the next few weeks.
