Re: Kei Nishikori
Always nice to see Asian players doing well, especially the youngsters. Haven't seen him play yet but hopefully, he will make a big-enough breakthrough to be shown on TV.

Yeah Benneteau can really hit some great shots. He's ranked a fair bit higher than Gabashvili, but I'm surprised that he's actually not a very tall player. He's also 177cm, same as Kei.

Re: Kei Nishikori
Lost 2-6 3-6
Kind of disappointing really. He didn't have any BPs at all on Benneteau's serve and judging by the scores, he pretty much gave up after being broken at 3-4 in the 2nd set. I hope he fights and comes back a stronger player for whichever tournament he plays next.

Re: Kei Nishikori
Kei
Still a good tournament and a win over a good opponent. It is still very good for someone with as little experience of him.

Re: Kei Nishikori
The scoreline's pretty one sided, I mean he was playing quite well going in that match.

Re: Kei Nishikori
Hey Matt, can you report a little bit on Kei's qualie match against Gaba?
Were you cheering for Kei in that match? :P How did he lose 4 and 2 to the same guy he had just beaten the week before?

Re: Kei Nishikori
Well, I wrote about it in my report thread in the Montreal forum
The first set I wasn't there, I was in line for Nadal's autograph but anyways, I got there when he got broken for the set. After he just lost his shots a bit, and really, to be honest, I think his strength is the serve. His returns weren't doing anything for him - Teimuraz easily attacked all the returns, even second serve ones.
He looked out of it, too, after the first set. It's too bad ...

Yeah, from many of his recent losses, and the report you gave, it sounds like he doesn't play well when he's losing. Especially at his age he needs to have the fighting spirit to cope when things aren't going so well or he might become a wasted talent.

Re: Kei Nishikori
I don't know. Last time I heard he wasn't long off a spot in QD at US Open. Hopefully US Open will be where we will next see our favourite Japanese guy

Re: Kei Nishikori
Hi there!
Kei got in the USO qualie draw!
Saw it on Steve G's forum. There have been three withdrawals from the draw, and thanks to the ranking jump after Indianapolis, he was the third on the alternate list.
