It's a question of whether he's able to play the qualifying draw of the next tournament. Since he still has to play the main draw of LA on the same day that they start the quallies in Washington, they allow him direct entry into the main draw.

Are you sure about that?
I've never seen an amateur play a main ATP tour tournament before.

He hasn't played juniors since the Luxilon cup, which he won in April.
His last junior match though on the junior tour was when he lost to Lopez last year in US Open

Re: Kei Nishikori
Kei lost 6-1 6-4. but had 4-1 lead in the 2nd set... that will stick in his mind for abit i'm guessing. Had a handful of aces, surprised me a little but his low serving % hurt him alot.
great tourney for Kei nonetheless!

Re: Kei Nishikori
Unlucky Kei, maybe he was a bit nervous at 4-1 up in the 2nd but Tursunov always has the ability to string many good games together. I think it's also a very tough match-up for him because Tursunov likes to overpower his opponents and Kei has no big serve or powerful groundstrokes to control the rallies.
It's been a great experience for sure and I hope he takes advantage of his SE for Washington.

Re: Kei Nishikori
It was a very respectable scoreline, especially for a player as inexperienced as Kei.
Good luck in Washington now
