Re: Kei Nishikori
yeh the 06 qualies deadline was July 31st, so i assume it'll be around same date this year.
There're still the chance that the tournament directors have notice his performances and grand him a WC to qualies, hopefully.

Re: Kei Nishikori
It's been a great run but the next round will be, by far, his toughest test. Tursunov has a very good record against all Asian players and I think this is the first time Kei has played a top 50 player. But hopefully he'll go out there feeling no pressure and just enjoy himself. It will be a great experience no matter what the result is.
Good luck Kei, keep it up.

Amen to that. and ofcourse stay injury free, and you'll always have a shot no matter who the opponent is.
And yeh i agree, Tursunov is in another league. Although he seem to be running below par lately, if thats the case then its up to Kei to make the most out of it.

Re: Kei Nishikori
Kei
I am so excited for him I think there may be a small chance he could get a qually WC for US Open, afterall, he lives and trains in America at the Bolletieri academy. (I think its the Bolletieri academy)
Good luck against Dima It will be a great experience for him. I wish I could watch it but I haven't got coverage

Re: Kei Nishikori
Tursunov did lose a love set the other day, it's not out of the question! He'll learn from the encounter, so it's a win for him even if he does lose
I don't know if anyone has coverage of Indy, though. I don't, but I'm Canadian...
Good luck Kei!!

Re: Kei Nishikori
But Tursunov did lose a love set to quite a more experienced opponent (with all due respect to Kei)
Hopefully I am wrong though.

Re: Kei Nishikori

Amateur overjoyed to advance
By Mark Ambrogi

If you're stunned to see Kei Nishikori's name in the Indianapolis Tennis Championships quarterfinals, you're not alone.
So is Nishikori.
"I can't believe it," said the 17-year-old from Japan.
Nishikori, who has trained at Bollettieri Academy in Bradenton, Fla., for four years, is ranked No. 373 on the ATP Tour.
He qualified for his first ATP Tour tournament in Los Angeles last week, losing in the first round.
Nishikori, who has not yet turned pro, won two matches to qualify. He then won his first tour match, beating fellow qualifier Alejandro Falla 6-4, 6-3. Thursday, he defeated Michael Berrer 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 in the second round. Berrer is ranked No. 83.
"Even last week, I was happy and I was playing well," Nishikori said. "I came here and I'm just playing good. It's unbelievable."
Nishikori will play third-seeded Dmitry Tursunov today

Re: Kei Nishikori
No, it's been confirmed he'll play tomorrow at 11am. Actually, that's very good news because it means he gets an SE spot for Washington if he wants it, which I assume he does.
