 He won 6-4 4-6 7-6 (4) !!! He served a really high percentage today, as high as 71% and 64% for the match.  Great job baby!! He could play Safin the quarters. Baby Safin vs Marat Sr.
He also plays doubles tomorrow with Escahuer. Davai Zhenya and Udachi.

He'll play on pista Central right after Marat - Haase tomorrow, against Daniel Gimeno-Traver (  Anyone ever heard of this guy before)
And indeed He COULD play Marat in the quarters .... with some livestream  It would be such an entertaining  match to see  |

Looking at his page on atptennis.com, he got to the final and QF of a challenger. He is a local guy so he will get lots of support. Hopefully, our Zhenya and Marat will get through.

They have played only once - the match took place on clay in Italy in 2005. Evgeny defeated Daniel 6/3 6/3. The match is scheduled to be the last match on the centre court on Thursday.

He won in 3 sets, saving 2 match points in the 2nd set. Now he's in the quarterfinals against Haase, who saved a MP to beat Safin. There goes our dream quarterfinal.  Good thing about this match in the live stream we will hopefully get. Davai Zhenya and Udachi.

He's into the semis with a 7-5 6-4 over Haase. But's he's playing 2 time defending champion Almagro. Udachi Evgeny... you're going to need.

I like "baby Zhenya" even though I don't post here so often - too many threads to keep up with as it is  But he had a great run here - no shame to lose to Almagro on clay in Spain - and I wish him well in his next tournament
