The RR system is a complete catastrophe, an utter mess. The Ferrero group thing is just one pitiful example. My understanding is that if Ferrero had played Lappentti and beaten him with the same score he beat Dhouly, he'd be in the quarterfinals. But because Lapentti withdrew, Devilder automatically gets in!? That's insane. Who came up with that rule....In the Masters Cup, where there's a withdrawal, the alternate player steps into the shoes of the withdrawing player. This stupid new format needs to be abandoned immediately.
