SEB FORFAIT FOR DAVIS CUP!!!

- Sébastien Grosjean a déclaré forfait pour le quart de finale de la Coupe Davis de tennis Suisse-France à Lausanne le week-end prochain, a-t-on appris mardi auprès du service de presse de la Fédération française de tennis (FFT).

Le numéro 1 français souffre d'une "infection virale", selon la FFT.

"En raison dune infection virale, Sébastien Grosjean a déclaré forfait pour le quart de finale de la Coupe Davis qui opposera du 9 au 11 avril prochains, à Lausanne, la Suisse à la France", a indiqué un communiqué de la FFT. "Le numéro 1 français est au repos pendant dix jours (il restera néanmoins à Lausanne pour soutenir ses coéquipiers) et refera des examens le 15 avril prochain".

Le retrait de Sébastien Grosjean "permet à Julien Benneteau initialement retenu comme cinquième joueur remplaçant dintégrer léquipe", conclut ce communiqué. AP

yes you are right.Lausanne is in the french part of Switzerland (Suisse Romande),30 minutes from Geneva. Luzern is in the german part and the weird language they speak is called "Schweizerdeutsch"

LAUSANNE (Reuters) - Pour des raisons médicales, Sébastien Grosjean ne pourra pas disputer le quart de finale de Coupe Davis face à la Suisse en fin de semaine à Lausanne (Suisse).


"Sébastien est diminué physiquement et souffre d'un état de fatigue générale", a annoncé mardi Guy Forget, le capitaine de l'équipe de France.


"Sébastien a contracté un virus aux Etats-Unis et les médecins lui imposent un repos total. Nous savions depuis quelques jours qu'il n'était pas en forme", a-t-il ajouté.


C'est en concertation avec le médecin de l'équipe de France que Sébastien Grosjean a finalement décidé mardi de renoncer à jouer contre la Suisse.


Le Marseillais, présent à Lausanne, est évidemment très déçu de ne pas pouvoir s'aligner pour ce quart de finale.


"J'avais très envie de prendre ma revanche sur la Suisse. Mais j'ai une infection virale et il vaut mieux que je prenne dix jours de repos".


"A Key Biscayne, j'étais déjà très fatigué et je manquais de jeu sur le court", a encore précisé Sébastien Grosjean, qui restera à Lausanne pendant toute la rencontre pour encourager son équipe.


BENNETEAU DANS LES QUATRE


Guy Forget, du coup, a décidé de faire entrer Julien Benneteau dans les quatre joueurs susceptibles de disputer un ou plusieurs matches.


"C'est pour cela que je sélectionne cinq joueurs car il y a toujours un risque que quelqu'un soit malade ou se blesse", a expliqué le capitaine de l'équipe de France.


Bien qu'attristés par le forfait de Sébastien Grosjean, les autres joueurs de l'équipe de France refusent toutefois de se laisser déstabiliser.


"On perd notre numéro 1, un top ten et un joueur de grosse qualité. C'est dommageable, mais c'est comme ça. Il nous reste encore des ressources pour aller battre les Suisses", a insisté Arnaud Clément, le numéro 2 des Bleus.


Quelle que soit la composition de leur équipe, les Français savent que la rencontre contre la Suisse et son numéro un mondial Roger Federer sera difficile.


"Roger Federer est le meilleur, mais leur numéro 2 est peut-être moins fort. Le double peut faire la différence et l'on peut imaginer une rencontre qui se terminera le dimanche", a avoué Guy Forget


"Nos rencontres contre la Suisse ont toujours été pleines d'émotion. Nous sommes prêts à tout donner et vraiment contents d'être là et de jouer contre une équipe que l'on apprécie."

yep. i know its called schweizerdeutsch. but i didnt know if everybody would understand. so where are you from? do you speak that weird german
