Default Davis Cup Venues 9-11 April

Davis Cup Venues Confirmed
The ITF has announced the venues for the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas ties taking place over the weekend of 9-11 April 2004.

USA will take on Sweden at the Delray Beach Tennis Centre in Delray Beach, Florida on an outdoor hard court. The Swedes will be looking to pull off another upset away from home following their shock 4-1 first round victory over defending champion Australia in Adelaide.

Belarus, the surprise first round conqueror of Russia, will return to the Football Manege stadium in Minsk for its World Group quarterfinal against Argentina, with the tie to be played on carpet. Switzerland, who faces France in the quarterfinals for the third time in four years, has chosen the Centre Intercommunal de Glace de Malley in Prilly, near Lausanne, on a hard court surface.

The tie between Spain and Netherlands will be held on red clay at the Plaza De Toros "Coliseo", a bullfighting arena in Palma de Mallorca. The two sides last met in the first round in Eindhoven in 2001, where Netherlands upset 2000 champion Spain 4-1.

The April ties will also determine which eight nations join the eight World Group first round losers in September’s play-offs. The eight winners of the Zone Group I second round ties will qualify for the play-offs.
