Don is playing a 50K this week in Winnetka, Illinois

He is the fourth seed, his first opponent is American wildcard Phillip Simmonds. He should win, but I doubt it.

He is also playing doubles with Nicholas Monroe, but they play Frederic Niemeyer and Kristian Pless in the first round, which is a good team, so I bet they'll lose

and his doubles 6-4, 6-3

In singles his next opponent is Kiwi G.D. Jones who qualified, and in doubles they will play top seeds Carsten Ball and Travis Rettenmaier. As I said before, he should win singles, but you never know with him lately

and the doubles opponents are very good so I bet they lose

Okay well in the doubles they lost to Ball and Rettenmaier 6-4, 6-1

so he is in the quarterfinals

Next up is Tim Smyczek, a qualifier. Don really should win this, but we'll see

I can't believe it, Donald Young lost to Smyczek. He really is in the dumps. Time flies: I actually looked at the Junior Wimbledon event to see if he'd entered this year before discovering he'll be twenty this month. I thought he was younger.

What next?

Donald Young then entered the qualifying draw as number 4 seed, won two matches but has just lost 6-3, 6-0 to C Ball. Donald seems to lose a lot of sets 6-0, as though he's given up. Which if he's number 4 seed, is a puzzling attitude.
