THE SPANISH RESIGNS ITSELF AFTER LOSING BEFORE BLAKE

Robredo: "Everything was very easy for me, but I had doubts"
Tommy Robredo was more close than ever to put in the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open, but the head played bad last in a its party before the American James to him Blake. "Everything was very easy for me, but I had doubts, I committed the double lack and there it changed everything", it said the Spanish, nineteenth favorite, after losing at night of Monday with James Blake by 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 and 6-3.

The Catalan talked about to the ninth game of the second sleeve, when he served for the Seth, with a 5-2 favor. At the key moment, Robredo failed, and let grow to Blake, that had given the blow in third round when eliminating the second favorite, the Spanish Rafa Nadal: "Algo happened through my head. I have given life him to which it did not have it. Until then he it was playing very pressed and very comfortable I. Later it was as if a foot was squashing me lacabeza ".

"the thing did not happen through tennis, but by the mental thing", Robredo commented, that already had reached the eighth of end in Flushing Meadows in 2001 and 2004. "the others twice I could not, I lost in three sets. But this time was a pain, because I was closely together. Tenísticamente, the balance is positive ". Facing the future, Robredo considers to work the mental part indeed. "To know how to confront situations like these, not to doubt... it happened to me twice in a year, in the end I will learn", said resigned.

Hi everyone! I know this is not his forum but I find a good news so I'd like to share with you! Now Tommy admits he has a choking mental problem. I just wonder what method that he will solve his nerves. Listen to me and see a sports psychologist huh? Just hope he will improve his weakness a lot and relax to play matches on the court.
Btw I find I like chokers so much - he and Paulo and others.

Just like me. I like Max Mirnyi and Elena Dementieva. I think that sums it up.

I don´t think that Tommy will make an appointement with a sports psychologist, although he says that he wants to work on it. I think that he´ll look for different options. This problem isn´t even new, he already choked last year on different occasions.

He still looked so happy in final after G2 had picked Tommy and the weakest doubles player Juan to play the humiliated match. Now he doesn't play any ATP match this week as he didn't do it in Sep for years too.He just wants to prepare his match in DC,but no one gives him chance now.I really don't like his behaviour on court recently, but my heart can't be so cruel to him finally, alright I allow him to show his all moodiness and anger. He has the right to be a bad boy! Love him!

Aww, that pic. Those were the times. If I remember correctly, that pic was taken after his win over Lleyton at the Frech Open. I know that Lopez isn´t a good player on clay, but you shouldn´t forget that Tommy is very inconsistent. On a good day, he can beat everyone on clay. But on a bad day, he loses to "clay-gods" like Soderling, Benneteau or even Karlovic. What surprises me the most, is that he didn´t have this shocking losses when he was younger (like in 2003). If you look at his 2003 results, he only lost to claycourt-specialists or top players on clay (f.e. Calleri 2x, Moya, Federer, Zabaleta, Costa, Lappenti and Coria). But in the last 2 years he lost to the likes of Ljubicic, Karlovic, Soderling, Gasquet (in 2004, not the one of today), Fish and T. Johansson. But regardless, I would take Tommy anyday over Lopez. How many matches has he won this year on clay? 3 or 4? So, that decision is ridiculous in my opinion and has nothing to do with the results and the performance of the players, but with personal preferences.

No,not Hewitt but Guga. I watched that match on blurred web TV,I remember that blue outfit guy acted so excited like that after he won the big victory. But at the time I only cheered for Guga and didn't know this guy at all. If you don't believe me you may check this in getty images.
Show you one pic after he won against Hewitt!I really love this blue outfit and his confidence!

I even call out Lopez SUCKS on clay, but Tommy sucks on grass this year too.
Yep and I don't think he is consistent. He was in the final in Estoril this year, but after that he was toasted by Benneteau in Roma AMS EVENT. And most of other guys that you mentioned are big servers,I can't believe he is still afraid of those on CLAY whereas in junior he even can beat Roddick on hard court. He can lose 0-6 1-6 2-6 this crappy results to some of them too. So imo Tommy isn't suitable to play a single rubber on clay this year. But he is a better choice to be picked as a doubles player.I see the reason that they pick Lopez instead of him but I think it's just an excuse. Don't tell me Lopez is friendlier with Nadal and he partners with him much more this year so make this choice.Last year in Olympics they guys even picked Tommy and Lopez as the doubles team even though they don't get along so well and they haven't played doubles together for a long time.Tommy recovered from his injury about mid May.He has enough time to prepare to play DC doubles with Nadal. When Nadal still played with Lopez a lot,I know that Craptains have made the decision to kick out Tommy.
Last year Juan played like crap but they even picked him to play live single rubber. Why don't they believe in Tommy to only play doubles this time?I also found one astonishing news:

Quote:
Spain certainly enjoyed a fair bit of luck over the past weekend. The injury to Fabrice Santoro that prevented him from playing in the doubles turned a match the French were expected to win into a 50:50, and Nadal's brilliance in singles rescued a potentially embarrassing situation when the Spaniards discovered neither Ferrero nor Moya could play on the final day. Ferrero's late withdrawal prompted a decision to put Robredo in against Clement and leave Nadal to face Mathieu, but the backroom staff were too late announcing the switch, so Robredo had to face Mathieu after all. As it happened, Robredo won the dead rubber 64 64 to make the overall score 4-1.
Tell me,if you decided Nadal to play against Clement early, what’s the reason to “change” since Juan couldn’t play? What an act!

This time Juan is picked in the team even Tommy's single and doubles result is better than him ON CLAY this year.Based on these examples and other events,I don’t think they like Juan the most but I’m quite sure they dislike Tommy so much. I think picking Juan is another excuse for eliminating Tommy. But I predict Juan won’t play a single rubber unless Ferrer is whipped in a live single rubber. He won’t play a doubles one too.Italians doubles players are not like USA twins that strong, also Nadal can play single and doubles in two continuous days.So wake up Tommy, you were born in a bloody country and aren't like Paulo case,he chokes in DC and ATP matches often but a warm-hearted French captain can comfort him in 02 DC final and trust him more than once.Thank god that man at least didn't choke in the last live rubber in March!

You´re right. I switched the matches. But still, I miss those days. Tommy was more stable on clay when he was younger. I loved that outfit too.

I´m not surprised that they didn´t pick Tommy to play singles, because David Ferrer and Nadal are much more reliable than Tommy. Just like you, I don´t see Juan playing a singles rubber during DC. I´m even surprised that he was nominated because he´s been in a very bad shape during the last couple of weeks (well, at least throughout the hardcourt season). Like I said, they picked Lopez because of personal preferences. They like him more, but the question is why? I don´t follow him or his career, that´s why I don´t know anything about him. But like I stated in my other post, Tommy should have been nominated for the doubles instead of Lopez.

ST can't design these nice outfit again. You know I always think now those are dull and without special character.
Ya,he will never play the single rubber unless he has a sudden big change while others are injured.I watched the SB and part of match later,he could have whipped Paulo in the dead rubber double 6-2,but we know Paulo was so "strong" again when he faced bps lol. Yeah that was only a dead rubber but Craptains have remembered his consistent ordinary style well.
Even G2 spoke this reason,I can't believe at all.

Quote:
Also it has noticeable the special motivation of Juan Carlos Ferrero in their return al team and has indicated that "I have spoken with all the players and they are we excite for surpassing this qualifying round, very special for all".
They pick them becasue of their conversation with them?trifling! Anyway we doubt no form Juan will play. They pick him maybe just play his heart again.Note:Last year his form was much crappier, but those promised him to pick him to play single rubber before.I feel better if they would have dumped him instead of giving him hope at first! But Juan is no longer a fool,he gets a WC in Palermo.
About Lopez,I never be a fan of him. They pick him besides of personal preferences could be becoz of his popularity in Spain. When he dates his new gf,heaps of magazines publish many pics.He attends TV show and Catwalk sometimes too. Also the other reason maybe he is a non-traditional player in Spain,he is the first Spaniard to enter in last 8 in Wimby.People realize him well.
Last but not least,Verdasco is a more suitable doubles player than Lopez on clay.He and Nadal played together this year too.But as I insist,G2 have already picked Lopez and Nadal for the doubles team very early.
