Yash I totally agree with you about the Catalan language situation and it's actually the official language of Andorra, something that Swiss German doesn't have the status of in its own country, then again it would take ages to form a standard Swiss German lexicon.

Actually star I am not sure if you remember Derrick Rostagno? He was an American fluent in Spanish, then again having an Argentine father would have something to do with it.

Ljubicic and Voinea also speak Italian as well as English plus their native Croatian and Romanian.

Yes, Doris Kratochvil is of Czech descent and does speak English very well.

je je. But I've also seen at some interviews, specially Guga's ones, in which he's asked about something in Spanish and he answers them in Portguese, it's nice, and it's quite understandable.

I heard him speak russian too, but I didn't understand a word of it

Nicolas Keifer speaks English, French and German. I thought Roger was fluent in 5 languages? And Andy apparently understands and can speak some Spanish, but not the way its spoken in Europe, more the way its spoken in the US and Mexico (which I've heard is different).

Well, Spanish is different in Mexico and USA and America in general than it is in Spain, but it is still the same language and I can perfectly understand "mexican" Spanish, "argentinian" Spanish or any other Spanish. Otherwise, it would not be Spanish...

I guess it's like french of France and french of Québec. Some words and expressions are different, and the accent of course.
But it's just some subtilities...

I heard there is a difference between Spanish spoken in Spain and spanish spoken in South America. I have friends who have lived in both and they said that there was a difference. The accent in Mexico for example made it more difficult for them to be understood in Mexico and for them to understand what the mexicans say.

I actually don't see any difference in the way french and canadians speak. There's different accents for sure, but they're almost similar IMO.
