Default Multilingual players

I am bored, so I thought I would start this up.

Yes. the qualifications for multilingual players list should be players that can speak 3 or more languages. They can be past or present players and the languages should be mentioned as well.

The Moroccans would win this contest for sure, not just talented players.

*Karim Alami 6 - Arabic, French, English, Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese
*Ivan Lendl 6 - Czech, Slovak, Russian, German, Polish and English ( I don't think he would use all of them now)
*Younes El Aynaoui 5 - Arabic, French, English, Spanish and Italian
* Hicham Arazi 5- As above
* Alex Corretja 4 - Catalan, Spanish, French and English

Notice how all the non-English players speak English but none of the native English speakers speak any other language *shakes head* I mean, you'd figure they'd put some effort into speaking at least French, seeing as how it's one of the Slams

I wonder if James Blake speaks any other languages. He's an "educated" fellah.

Roddick and Agassi are well-versed in Latin, ancient Greek, and Sanskrit. It's a shame they don 't get to use those much at the slams.

Ferrero, Moyá Costa and Mantilla speak at least 3 (English, Spanish and Catalan), and probablh some of them also speak, like Corretja does, French, so they could be on 4.

It's different to speak a language than to know a few phrases.

It seems that most of these players (except the English speaking ones) speak their own language and English and maybe know something of another language as well. It would be more interesting perhaps to speak of the players who only speak one language.

Courrier spoke French, but he's the only American I know who bothered with a foreign language.

part of the reason is that most of these guys don't go to college and that's where you would learn to be proficient in a foreign language in the US. There's one, ONE player in the top 100 now who graduated college (and that's pretty much the only reason why I'm a Brian Vahaly fan).

At Harvard, I'm sure Blake took a foreign language.

Americans not being able to speak other languages has always been one of my pet peeves.
