Hmm just thought this thread needed a bit of a bump since England have had an excellent few days

Awesome partnership by Collingwood and KP

Now I'm enjoying watching the King of Spain play some lovely shots

Better performance from England and big Ashley Giles showed why he is a King.

Hats off to Collingwood and KP, especially Collingwood who wouldn't have played if it wasn't for Tresco to leave the squad. Both played exceptionally well and it's not often Australian bowlers don't look like getting a wicket

However batting was never going to be the problem this series for the Poms, taking 20 wickets is which makes me wonder why Panesar wasn't in the team for this match.

There was nothing to suggest from how the pitch played yesterday that Australia won't reply with 500 of their own

Finally game on!

Need a second bowler to follow the lead of Flintoff in taking wickets, hopefully someone will raise their game... Monty(deserves a chance at least..)?

The Aussie press may play down our chances, but we will mount a serious challenge for this series!

The highlights made for good viewing today.
It isn't often you see the Aussies struggling like that.
As some others have said here, I can't believe Monty isn't playing again. IMO he was England's best bowler over the summer here, and now he brings out the drinks.

That drop catch could potentially have cost England a chance to win this match which is heading towards a draw.

That would suit you for sure, but he has done well with the bat, but that was a shocking dropped catch.

Giles' royal seal of approval

Ashley Giles' recent heroics for England have seen him elevated to head of state.

Don't panic, Queenie, your kingdom is safe - although over in Madrid, Juan Carlos must be looking nervously over his shoulder.

The reason for all the excitement lies in the souvenir shop at Warwickshire - Giles' home county.

Since the born-again off-spinner grabbed 18 wickets in two Test matches, punters have been inundating staff with requests for mugs bearing the inscription: "Ashley Giles, King of Spain".

You can probably guess what's coming next.

Yes, dear readers - when Warwickshire commissioned the mugs to commemorate their new favourite son, they had in fact requested the words: "Ashley Giles, King of SPIN".
Easy mistake to make.

But all is not lost, because the Warwickshire faithful have demanded the mugs be left with the misprint on - and there are even some "El Gilo" specials doing the rounds.

Club shop manager Keith Butler said: "We had a batch of 200 that had pictures of Ashley on one side and King Juan Carlos on the other - they've sold out."

Marvellous.
