Re: Tie-break's stuff
Thanks, Voo! I really appreciate it
Can't believe I was so daft, after all - it reads 0-3 in TB challengers further down the Sampras page Interesting, by the way. By "normal" ATP standard those challenger TBs shouldn't have been counted as they were played before 1991. I checked Nastase's page to see if stats made entirely before 1991 were correct, but his TB status is 14-6....I have no idea which 20 they count, certainly not his last 20.

This is because the ATP count the TB where they have the scorelines, by this is than older players have some TB in their own page.

I think you'll find, if you check, that Sampras' Challenger TBs did not have scorelines. Still they are counted. But for Nastase, it is correct. He has 20 TBs with scorelines - and rather a lot of them without.
I suppose it would be too much to expect ATP to show the same diligence in counting ATP TBs as they do counting Challenger TBs.....

Re: Tie-break's stuff
ATP is incoherent in its stats. Sampras currently with 274-156 record in tie-breaks (number of tie-breaks with scorelines on the website)

Re: Tie-break's stuff
I think you're missing one: Ignatik def. Delic 7-6(16), 7-6(7), 6-4
I saw you count DC matches Or do you only count WG matches?

Re: Tie-break's stuff
Thx, I've added it and Delic's match with Gil (2010) as well.
Those lower levels of Davis Cup are tricky, it's like Challenger/Futures level, but those matches are counted to official records by ATP :/
If it depended on me, I would officially count only World Group and play-offs.

Re: Tie-break's stuff
Brands won the first set against Tomic yesterday with 7-6 (4). It only lasted 35 minutes, which is lightning fast, considering it's like 14 games played. 35/14 is 2,5. Two and a half minutes per game.
Made me wonder, what's the fastest tie break set ever played? Voo?

Re: Tie-break's stuff
I've copied here my post from the Tomic-Brands thread:
It's tough to say, I think in the 70s many times on grass tie-break sets were concluded around 30 minutes.

Could be the case. However, is there a faster tie break set recorded in the last 20-30 years?
I checked some tie break sets between big servers of the 90s and last century. Seems like few sets where under 40 minutes...

Re: Tie-break's stuff
Sampras, Ivanisevic and Rusedski were certainly involved many times on grass in under-40-minute tie-break sets.
