Re: Match points saved (21st century)
There's an interesting case with Tommy Haas, who has won the most mp-down matches in 'the best of five', among active players. Logically it's tougher to win a match in these circumstances than 'in the best of three', but Haas managed to make it 5 times, whilst only 3 times in 'best of three':
Haas's mp-down 5-set wins:
Code:
Australian Open 2002, 4R: R.Federer 7-6(3) 4-6 3-6 6-4 8-6 1 mp
Wimbledon 2004, 1R: A.Dupuis 2-6 2-6 7-6(8) 6-4 8-6 1 mp
Australian Open 2007, QF: N.Davydenko 6-3 2-6 1-6 6-1 7-5 1 mp
US Open 2007, 4R: J.Blake 4-6 6-4 3-6 6-0 7-6(4) 3 mp
Wimbledon 2009, 3R: M.Cilic 7-5 7-5 1-6 6-7(3) 10-8 2 mp
Haas hasn't won a mp-down 'best of 3' since 2001

Re: Match points saved (21st century)
Prior to the Australian Open 2012
I've been keeping the match points stats for doubles since 2006, so since the year "super tie-break" was introduced on a regular basis. There are six years by far, thus I think it's a good time to make a recap. Below you can look at two stats, the first one with notable players born in 1983 and onwards (it's an age group quite easy to follow before 2006) comparing their m.p. stats in both, singles and doubles; the second one considering the doubles specialists but looking back only to 2006.
Code:
(.800) Juan Martin del Potro (3-1 singles, 1-0 doubles)
(.692) Novak Djokovic (8-2, 1-2)
(.666) Ernests Gulbis (3-2, 1-0)
(.636) Andy Murray (4-2, 3-2)
(.631) Philipp Kohlschreiber (7-2, 5-5)
(.625) Robin Haase (2-3, 3-0)
(.611) Andreas Seppi (8-4, 3-3)
(.600) Julien Benneteau (7-2, 5-6)
(.588) Rafael Nadal (9-5, 1-2)
(.571) Sergiy Stakhovsky (5-4, 3-2)
(.571) Gilles Simon (3-2, 1-1)
(.562) Richard Gasquet (3-5, 6-2)
(.562) Nicolas Almagro (6-6, 3-1)
(.545) Stanislas Wawrinka (4-3, 2-2)
(.545) Chris Guccione (2-4, 4-1)
(.500) Juan Monaco (7-5, 1-3)
(.500) Tomas Berdych (6-6, 2-2)
(.500) Sam Querrey (6-4, 3-5)
(.500) Marin Cilic (3-3, 2-2)
(.473) Robin Soderling (7-8, 2-2)
(.473) Igor Andreev (8-8, 1-2)
(.428) Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (1-2, 2-2)
(.368) Fernando Verdasco (7-7, 0-5)
(.347) John Isner (5-11, 3-4)
(.333) Marcos Baghdatis (2-5, 1-1)
(.272) Janko Tipsarevic (2-6, 1-2)
(.266) Viktor Troicki (1-9, 3-2)
# Players involved in at least 3 singles m.p. matches & at least one m.p. doubles match.
# Stats made before Australian Open 2012.
Doubles specialists:
Code:
(.818) 9-2 Christopher Kas
(.714) 10-4 Leander Paes
(.700) 7-3 Rohan Bopanna
(.666) 12-6 Daniel Nestor
(.636) 7-4 Michael Llodra, Lukasz Kubot
(.611) 11-7 Marcin Matkowski
(.600) 9-6 Simon Aspelin
(.588) 10-7 Mariusz Fyrstenberg
(.571) 8-6 Martin Damm
(.541) 13-11 Max Mirnyi
(.538) 7-6 Nenad Zimonjic, Oliver Marach
(.500) 10-10 Robert Lindstedt
(.500) 9-9 Mahesh Bhupathi
(.473) 9-10 The Bryans
(.466) 7-8 Frantisek Cermak

Re: Match points saved (21st century)
Ramos saved 3 mp's also against Levine yesterday, it happens rarely to win back to back matches of this type.

Re: Match points saved (21st century)
^ 17-9 was at the beginning of the year, in 2012 he added wins over Istomin, Dodig and McClune which give him 20-9 (.689) - the third best record among players to win at least 20 tie-breaks of this kind
