Re: The Longest Singles Matches, best of five sets (21st century)
^ Funny thing, Berasategui and Filippini played the longest game a couple months after Rusedski won the shortest match against Arriens which lasted 28 minutes (6-0 6-0), so one game in Casablanca lasted as long as the whole match of Rusedski
29 minute match included 58 points
28 minute game included 46 points
Berasategui's match lasted only 79 minutes, it means, very likely the longest game was the only "deuce" game in that match

Nadal won the second longest:
4-setter (Mathieu),
3-setter (Moya, has tied Cherkasov's record) and
2-setter (Wawrinka)
Nadal won also the longest final (against Coria in Rome) and the longest Australian Open match (against Verdasco) - both matches 5 hours 14 minutes.

Most of the information can be found in this thread but again, I think great stuff like that just drown in the sea that is General Messages forum.
By all means correct me if there's anything wrong.
In a match that has started on Saturday and finished on Wednesday (due to 7 rain delays and the traditional [yet stupid] Sunday off) Melo/Sa def. Hanley/Ullyet 7-5, 6-7 (4), 6-4, 6-7 (7), 28-26. It was the longest 5th set ever in any match, singles or doubles (tied with one Wimbledon 89' Singles qualifier).
The game lasted 5h 58m (the last set alone 3h 5m) - they just missed the GS Doubles record (set in Wimbledon 2006) by 11 minutes. The victors saved 4 MPs in the decider.
The longest decisive set is two games longer:
Ireland/Arthurs def. Brandi/Messori 6-3, 3-6, 29-27 (Australian Open '97). At 4h 36m, this is the longest 3-setter ever, at least since tie-breaks were introduced.
Going through the net, I've found 3 longer sets:
Dick Leach/Dick Dell def. Schloss/Mozur 3-6, 49-47(!!!), 22-20 (Newport '67)
Stan Smith/Van Dillen def. Cornejo/Fillol 7-9, 37-39, 8-6, 6-1, 6-3 (Davis Cup '73)
Segura/Olmedo def. Segal/Forbes 32-30, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 (Wimbledon '68; GS record)
It’s worth mentioning Segura was 47 at that time.
Surely at least the first one must have lasted over 7h, but I haven't been able to find out more about it. Do you know more about these three?

what the fucking hell 49-47 wtf?!!! so long

Re: The Longest Singles Matches, best of five sets (21st century)
At 4:4 in the 3rd set I thought they would play match around 3:50, it was tough to expect such a tense tie-break This match shows that 4:20 3-setter is possible, they played 4 games less than Nadal and Moya in the previous record match.

Re: The Longest Singles Matches, best of five sets (21st century)
Hello Voo de Mar, how are you? I haven't been here in a while...
A few questions:
1) What's the quickest set in both singles and doubles?
(I think the record known to me is 14 minutes. I wonder what was the duration of the famous Bill Scanlon Golden Set.)
2) What's the quickest TB set in both singles and doubles?
(I thought about this one during the Wimbledon final, after both were blazing through service games up to 5-5 in 25 minutes. It seemed like a 32-33 minutes 7-6 was possible, but the next game was by far the longest of the set, and there wasn't a TB at all.)
3) What's the quickest doubles match?

Massu playing amazing vs a struggling Nadal on clay would probably last several days.

In June this year I watched for the first time RG final from 1987, Wilander had finished the point against Lendl with excellent backhand down the line at 83rd stroke, and Bud Collins said that a couple rounds earlier, Lendl had been playing a few more than 100 strokes against Nystrom! Also another interesting thing is connected with this match... I read once Nystrom won third set of that match after saving 11 setpoints. It can be a record of saving setpoints in a match. 11 match points is a record of Open Era (A.Panatta def. Warwick).
