Re: Rogi at Dubai
Well yanchr, I agree...in this forum, I actually seldom read any stupid excuses made by Rogi fans for his losses (but of course I haven't been here for very long) but I think (or hope) George in this case is referring generally rather than at Rogi fans.

I can't help but thinking of Ferrero. Lately, he's always said that he's either injuried or tired after he lost his match.
Roger's draw in Dubai is ridiculous, and it happened again and again, guess I have to learn to accept that. Anyway, I hope Roger plays his best tennis and takes them all!

Re: Rogi at Dubai
I think playing Marat in the 1st rd. will help him in the long run in this tournement. If he gets by Marat, he will be confident that he can, and WILL beat Henman. No one will stop David from reaching the semis, so atleast i know if Roger losses to Tim again, David will take care of him I mean after all Serving & Volleying against David is just ridiculous, but Henman cant beat him from the baseline, so.. Better for Roger to finally beat Tim before Wimbledon.

But Rogi doesn't S&V vs. Nalby now... he didn't at the AO04 and it helped a lot! That's part of his strategy vs. Nalbers.
Well, if Rogi meets Tim, he'll just have to beat him... long overdue!

For this sake, never liked what JC said after the AO semi that if he'd been fully healthy he'd have beaten Roger...sth like that...

Is that what Juanqui said? I don't remember... did he also say that after Rogi beat him in the SF of Roma last yr? Actually, I think Juanqui w have beaten Rogi then.
The best match betw Rogi and Juanqui was in Madrid SF last yr... they both played quite well and it was competitive -- but Juanqui was playing better.
Rogi, just give it your best! It w be great for Rogi to defend Dubai!
HOPP, ROGI!

Re: Rogi at Dubai
I was actually refering to Henman. He S &V against David, and is terribly punished Like i said though, He cant beat David from the baseline. I actually think on the faster surfaces (grass, fast Hard court) especially grass, Roger will S & V alot more agaisnt David. The last 2 times they met were on slow Hard courts, so it was definatly smart to stay back on those. But i dont think he'll stay back as much on the faster surfaces

Re: Rogi at Dubai
Isy, I was referring generally and not at Federer fans in general, but I can't stand poor excuses for when a player gets beaten, if they are that injured then they shouldn't be playing.

Oh please if Roger loses its not because of his draw. He is not Andy after all. Roger will lose because he didn't play well enough or was simply outplayed, just like most match situations. If Roger wasn't so well rounded then I would be worried but since he has the grandest game and greatest talent, I am not. I don't make excuses for bad draws. I have yet to make one. I kinda of like them for Roger as to test him, make him stronger. I actually got used to the Oz draw after the 1st few matches. I had a feeling Roger could win Oz with Hewitt and David in his path because he played them before and knew what to do. I am looking forward to Dubai with or without Roger going beyond the first rd. This week has been very good. Guga won his 20th title and Hrbaty (a pal of Roger's) is on fire.

Re: Rogi at Dubai
Thanks for that post Dirk it was coherent and fairly objective and yes Guga and Hrbaty winning made last week a very good week indeed.

Re: Rogi at Dubai
Well, a win here Roger would be a nice gift, since my Birth day is on the 8th, and the final of Dubai is on the 7th.

Which cool players are playing in Scottsdale? Is Mexico this week? I wish all weekly events would finish so well.

Moya and Gaudio are in Mexico so I will follow that one. I hope Moya's foot is ok now and his ankle. I have a feeling he will have one of his best years. I am surprised Guga is not in Mexico nor Coria. Dubai has the best players this week. I am so happy for Hrbaty. I saw him play tennis circles around Andy at DC on clay. Then again anyone who has a what 7-2 record on Kafel is great. I really think he will make the final 8 unless he gets hurt. I hope he has a great masters.
Is Rainer in Scottsdale? I like him and he seems to be over his post season slump.

Re: Rogi at Dubai
Rainer is in Dubai, he likes playing in the Middle East.
Guga needs the rest and it's good for him so he can prepare for IW.
Yes, Mexico does some good players well.
