They do!
But don't deny you wouldn't vote for yourself if you could too.
I don't think the ex-Yugoslav voting block is cheating though.

Serbs know the stereotypes about themselves in Switzerland, and because of the circumstances from which they came from the stereotypes are not doubt true - having said, I have no doubt they're hard working people.

You surprise me -- do you live in a small village with few foreigners?
Well, both I don't feel those stereotypes about Serbs and Turks actually, years back the stereotypes were more about other ex-Yugoslavian ethno groups such as Albanians from Kosovo or Macedonians... But these days those guys are well integrated. What's the kind of stereotypes you're referring to? (don't mind zeke, he never ventures in non-tennis ).

Regarding Tamils I guess it's the case in Bern, there aren't many of them where I live so can't really comment...

I live in Lausanne but travel across Switzerland throughout the year so no, I'm not stuck in an old Alpin village

That's really unfortunate. Well there are all kinds of people in Switzerland and the farmers who have lived generations in the mountains have so so rarely seen foreigners and are extremely suspicious of them (they are suspicious even of the native Swiss who venture up into their meadows sometimes).

About your experience, well even though the Tamils are regarded so well ultimately some just view them as foreigners and so they are sometimes judged/lumped with all foreigners.

Most of those "Serbians" are in fact Albanians from Kosovo and Gypsies. There aren't many Serbs in Switzerland. But I guess it's easier for you to call them Serbians.Politicly correct, too. No one would mind if you call Serb a murderer, thief or rapist.

Swiss know the different ethnic groups, and yes there are many Kosovars in Switzerland. However, there are many Serbs as well. In the media, they often distinguish between Croat, Kosovar and Serb (and others). So no, I don't think it is a large scale mix up of not knowing who is who.

And yes, there are stereotypes about all of the immigrant groups. I guess this is true everywhere. In the US, there are stereotypes about immigrants from Africa, from Asia, from Latin America. These stereotypes are not always in a positive light.

Well, few confuse the Serbs with Albanians... There was a lot of Albanians from Kosovo who came in Switzerland as refugees during the war... It took some time for them to be well integrated but now those who've stayed are integrated. In the 60's we had Italian immigrents, in the 70's Spanish's and more recently the ex-Yougoslavien. I don't see any problem with that.

One from Scrubs:
Q:What's the thing you should be aware of when you take out either A Black Girl or a White girl?
A: When the black girl asks whether her ass is too big you should answer "Hell yeah Baby" whereas for the white Chick you should tell her she looks pencil thin.
