The Selfish Capitalist by Oliver James
He highlights studies that show depression, stress and various other forms of mental illness are more predominant in the English-speaking world than in other economically developed nations. His thesis is that this is caused by higher levels of materialism which result from the brand of capitalism practiced in the English-speaking world. He draws a distinction between Selfish and Unselfish Capitalism (broadly Thatcherism/Reaganism v Scandinavian model social democracy)

It's a decent book, but 'Angels & Demons' is so much better.
