Default Re: Euro 2008 qualifying, Oct 7th....

I am not really keen on these matches, most of them you get fucked over somehow. Haven't really looked into any matches seriously yet, will do tomorrow though to see if there is anything interesting. I've read that there are a couple of injuries for Portugal, Italy, Ireland; Ukraine is without Sjevsjenko probably.

But I can ofcourse give the info for the Holland game. Big big media story this week; Van Basten dropped Van Nistelrooy and Van Bommel after the WC in Germany; both were really pissed off and weren't selected for the first game. Start of last week, van Nistelrooy made some comments about van Basten, that he does not pick his players by quality, but if he likes them or not. Van Bommel and Van Nistelrooy are supposebly both not the biggest friends of the coach.

In the weekend, Huntelaar gets injured and Van Bommel is suddenly recalled out of nowhere. Van Nistelrooy gets a phone call from Van Basten, but both do no see any trust in eachother to be working together. So he is out. Van Bommel is not keen on responding in an interview on saturday and then on sunday is his reaction that he will not play for the national team as long as Van Basten is head coach. Well, obviously media responds majorly to this situation as many rate that Van Bommel and Van Nistelrooy should be key players in the squad with their quality and experience.

In the end, at the moment everything has calmed down. Players who are selected said that everything should have been discussed in the team and privately with the coach and not out in the open played via the press. The first eleven is almost 100% sure as well, except for the centre midfield: Van der Sar; Boulahrouz, Ooijer, Mathijsen, Van Bronckhorst; Landzaat, De Jong, Sneijder; Van Persie, Kuijt, Robben.

De Jong could be replaced by Schaars. All the other players are sure to play, if there are no injuries.

I have no clue about the Bulgarian team, I only know Berbatov and the Petrovs. They started well off with a draw in Romania and a win at home vs Slovenia. Holland should be winning this match normally; Van Persie is in an expectional form at the moment, the defence is strong and the midfield should be okay as well. I think the odds should be closer to evens, but 1.90 is perhaps worth the bet.

Will look into any other match tomorrow.

The odds on Israel and Norway look really good.

Greece have looked woeful recently and Norway arent a bad side. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has looked like hes back to his best which is a massive plus.

Israel generally play in neutral venues (I think) so dont know whats home and whats away! They also have some quality players and even in the hostile environment in Russia I wouldnt put it past them to get at least a draw. Remember they drew with Rep of Ireland and France in WC qualifying.

Well mate, i can inform you a bit about the match
Israel played against Andorra this year in neutral venue because of the war in Lebanon. FIFA decided few weeks ago that the matches are coming back to Israel, and also the last WC qualies have been played at Israel.
You're right about some quality players, i think that everyone know Benayoun, who struggling with a minor injury but probably will play. Ben Haim is an excellent back sweeper, Dudu Aouate is doing an excellent job in Deportivo and Idan Tal is also decent.
If you saw the matches of Haifa against Liverpool you could've notice some quality players from there that are playing for Israel - but the main one is the Striker who came from Argentina - Roberto Colautti, who have an Israeli citizenship and will play tomorrow.
The last qualies campign for Israel was excellent, as we took a draw from France, Swiss and Ireland, home and away.
The Israeli coach is the coach with the most trophies in the Israeli league history, he sure knows how to coach and he will do to Hiddink some troubles.
I saw in the news that there's a huge pressure on Guus to win this match, as some doubts he worth the money that he's paid for.
Israel probably will play defensivly and try to attack from counter attacks, so if Russia will win it'll be a minimal win IMO.

Israel + 1 @ 2.02 - Gamebookers (Russia wins by 1 goal and the money is back) is a very good bet IMO...good luck all

Well, the cold war between Bulgaria and Holland has started

Bulgaria has decreased the wide of the field; they made the pitch 3m smaller, both lines were cut 1,5m. Still in the official regulations, but obviously they think they can play Holland better when the field is small and tidy. Funny thing.

Norway is definitely interesting, still not sure whether I am playing any bets; will decide tomorrow.

I don't really like one matchup, as said before, it is all so tricky.

Poland is without 4 key players from what I've read. France could be somehow losing points vs Scotland, they started the competition really strong.

England, Portugal, Croatia, Slovenia, Czech have no value at all. Italy should be having no problems with Ukraine, that is without Sjevsjenko. But I don't like the odds. Italy can't efford losing any more points.

Bosnia and Norway look tempting vs Moldova and Greece respectively. Even Iceland could be interesting at Latvia.

Sweden seems interesting vs a disturbed Spain; many media stories over there as well; Raul is out, Joaquin made some comments in the press.

Finland @ 1.66 could be okay vs Armenia. Israel is a bit tempting as well. I think I will try some small parlay's for fun, but can't see any really interesting game.
