Some Haase related news, I just heard on the Net5 Wimbledon update that Robin Haase and Rogier Wassen will be playing a number of doubles tournaments together heading into the US Open and that depending on how it goes they may play some tournaments after the USO as well.
I don't feel like translating it all at the moment but if anyone wants a full translation let me know. Basically it says that Robin is playing with a slight tear in his meniscus but that the doctor have said that continueing to play won't cause any further damage. He's behind 4-1* in the final set again fellow Dutch player Matwe Middelkoop in his first round at Scheveningen.
Sorry robin lost 6-3 in the final set
In that set he'd sometime scream when he'd make
a weird movement with his knee. And after the match
he did say that he's considering surgery. So I guess
the knee is worse than we first though...
It does sound like the problems with the knee are more serious than we thought. I can imagine that playing with a tear in his meniscus isn't healthy and I can't imagine that it'll be any better on the hardcourts which are even more demanding on your joints, hopefully if he is suffering from any injuries he'll take time off to let it heal properly, and hopefully he won't be needing surgery.
Edit: I checked the MTF tournament section for Haase's schedule the coming weeks, he'll be playing Amersfoort next week then he'll have two weeks off since he's not on the entry lists for Toronto/Cincinatti followed by LA (August 4-10), Washington (August 11-17), Pilot Penn (August 18-24) and the USO (August 25- September 7)
Well looks like my previous post about his upcoming schedule isn't going to be necesary, Dutch teletekst is reporting that Robin has pulled out of the Dutch Open in Amersfoort and thet he'll indeed be undergoing surgery.
Edit: some more news from nu.nl, it is the same knee he was having problems with back in April in Barcelona, after his last match the problems hav gotten worse which is why he'll be undergoing surgery now and not waiting which he was planning to do. It's thought he'll be out for 5-6 weeks now.
