Re: The official Nico Lapentti's cheering thread!
I'm so glad he's doing well again
Now against Charly, who's one of my favs too so whatever the result, I'll always be half happy & half sad...
Good luck!!!

Re: The official Nico Lapentti's cheering thread!
He lost 5-7 in the tiebreaker. But there's really no need to be disappointed, he played a brilliant match and tournament, I'm excited to see what else he can do this year.

Tell me about it! I can accept that Nico and Carlos are in their early 30's, but JC is already 28 and I can still remember him as a youngster. Same with Tommy, you just feel like they'll never grow old and retire, so when it happens it's sad.

You have to retire when Willy does
Even though these guys are irreplaceable, I'm sure we'll find plenty of others to support when they're gone.

I saw Nico practicing today in the afternoon's golden light. He looked gorgeous! He must be practicing hard because someone said they saw him practicing this morning too.

Re: The official Nico Lapentti's cheering thread!
I started out at Nishikori's match because it started before Nico's match and i figured I might get over there for the second set. Instead the stupid match went three tense sets and I didn't get over to Nico's match until in the tiebreak.
Well, first he was wearing a very nice green shirt and looked great in it, but lost the tiebreak. On match point down, he bravely went to the net and made two volleys but after the second his opponent hit a perfect lob. Nico raced for it but as he saw it land and knowing he couldn't get to it, he smiled -- his beautiful smile -- as if he saw the humor in the situation. I thought very few players would have the grace or the depth of character to smile in that circumstance.
I think these qualifying rounds are so tense. This is where the guys are really struggling.
